Calix Felix was an emotional wreck and Alex was looking pale and stressed. “Mom,” I said, looking her in the eyes, hoping it would be difficult for her to lie to me. We needed the truth. “I don’t understand! Why would you do that? Chasity was little. Why didn’t you just let her have the comfort of a relative?
