SAMANTHA'S POV I woke up with a start, having fallen asleep on the couch. Why was I now in my room, lying on the bed? I remembered drifting off while waiting for Dominic. Sarah and I had tended to the bodyguard who got shot, and I decided to stay awake until Dominic returned. But somehow, I ended up here, on my bed with my duvet pulled over me. It was 7 a.m., and I had an hour to prepare for work. Downstairs, I heard muttering and whispering—loud enough to catch my attention. I hurriedly slipped on my slippers and went downstairs. To my relief, it was the workers—they had returned. Worry and fear etched their faces as they surveyed the damage in the house. Marie, looked relieved when she saw me. She practically flew toward me. "Oh, Samantha! What happened? Thank God you're all right.
