After taking a shower and putting on something comfortable, I went straight to the laundry area to wash the blanket and the clothes I wore earlier. Eventually, they will stink from the rainwater if I don’t do so.
Later on, I hanged everything to dry. I hope the large fabric would be waterless by tomorrow so I can already return it. I went to the kitchen once all is done, and found Rachel cooking. Apparently, she’s been waiting for me.
“Ahem.” She cleared her throat to catch my attention. Upon looking at her, she motioned for us to sit by the counter.
Damn! I hate explaining. I let out a deep sight before starting.
“Okay. I know I should’ve told you.” I raised my hands in surrender. “Sorry”
“Then spill it out. And don’t skip any details.” She said with a raised eyebrow.
I really don’t like it when Rachel starts interrogating like the FBI. She leaned forward a bit to indicate for me to start telling.
“Fine. Well, he asked Ji Won to help him find me and look into my background and all” I began.
“Wait... Ji Won?! As in Kim Ji Won??” she asked on disbelief.
I just nodded in silence. Knowing Rachel, I know how she would respond so I prepared myself.
“OMG! That’s totally amazing! Kim Ji Won, the golden boy of Korea! She exclaimed, literally jumping on her seat. Typical Rachel reaction.
“Yes, I know. Will you chill?” I rolled my eyes, but can’t stop from laughing. “He’s one of Simon’s – I mean, Yun ho’s close friends, that’s why it was easy for him to ask.”
Her expression immediately changed from confusion to a teasing one. “Oh, so you call him Simon now, huh?” She said this while wriggling her eyebrows.
“Yeah, I guess so.” I answered looking away, trying to hide the red spots forming on my face. “We’re friends now, so there’s nothing wrong with it.”
“C’mon Gabby, you are so defensive!” She stood up putting her face near mine, like trying to find the truth behind what I just said. “Clearly, he likes you!”
It’s now my turn to stand up and walk a bit farther from her. I can’t look her in the eye.
“Well, he actually said that too. But only as a friend, that’s all.” I retaliated.
Oh please! Can someone please smack this girl on the head?” she waved her hand in the air, as if there are other people in the room to do her bidding. “We both know what’s really going on here.”
It’s my turn to glare at her, putting my hands on my hips. “Let’s not jump into conclusions here, okay?”
“Yes, I still have feelings for him somehow.” I admitted sighing and sat back on the chair. “But it doesn’t mean, I have to take advantage of our friendship. We might be wrong after all.”
Rachel returned to her seat as well. “Alright, if that’s what you think.” understanding me. “But we can’t deny the possibility the might be feeling the same way about you.”
I just kept quiet, mulling on what she just said. I don’t want to keep my hopes up, and get hurt in the end because of assumptions.
“So what did you do today?” sensing how I feel, she tried lightening the mood. “I hope that rain didn’t ruin your date.”
“Indeed! It was perfect.” I said sarcastically. “He prepared a really nice picnic. But we even barely ate anything, when the angels decided to water the whole place. So we ended up stuck inside his car, wet and cold.”
“Oohh... so you got intimate?” Her eyes twinkling with excitement. Rachel and her wild imagination.
“I told you, no skips. Tell me now!” she demanded me to continue.
“Uhm.. Kinda.” I confessed. “We hugged since we’re both freezing. But that’s just it.”
I made sure to skip the ‘undressing’ part. She would definitely go berserk if I tell it too.
“That is so sweet!” she squealed, her eyes wide. Her next question got shocked me. “Did you kiss?”
“Of course not!” I spat. “We fell asleep waiting for the rain to stop.”
She slumped on her seat in disappointment. “You should’ve seized the opportunity.”
“Rachel, you know I’m not like that!” I was really surprised. “I told you, we’re only friends. No more, no less.”
She just shrugged, rolling her eyes. “Yeah, right. Whatever.”
“Thank you.” I sarcastically replied, ending the conversation. “Let’s eat. I’m hungry.”
I need to dismiss the subject since I know Rachel won’t stop with the idea of romance between Simon and I. We set the table together and started eating.
I can’t help but think about what Simon was trying to say before he left. Was he about to confess his feelings for me?
Shut up, Gabby! You’re becoming like Rachel now.
I tried dismissing the thought.
