Chapter Three I don’t know how long I lay there in that bed before Jonathan returned. There were no clocks in the room, and the window didn’t really let much sunlight in. Whether that was because it was so small, or because the glass was too thick, I couldn’t be sure. And in the meantime, there really wasn’t much to occupy myself with. I tried pulling on my restraints for a bit. After a while, the headboard began to creak. I thought that I might be able to break it eventually, but the blood was draining from my arms, leaving them feeling numb and, as a result, difficult to maneuver. I was able to pull myself into a sitting position, and that made them feel a bit better, but it still wasn’t enough. I figured I’d try again when they regained some of their strength.
