Chapter Fifteen I was startled to find that I wasn’t alone the next morning. Abraham was there, with a little handheld mirror propped against the wall on top of the dresser, scraping at his clean-shaven face with a straight razor. I said nothing. I just watched him as he shaved in the dim light. I watched him as he dressed himself in clothes that were nearly identical to the ones that he had worn yesterday. The only difference being that the buttons on his jacket were silver now, instead of bronze. Then, without a word to me, without even a glance in my direction, Abraham departed from the room.
