Miranda's Pov
I looked at Lucía with wide eyes and then at Don Bruno who was stunned but he appeared to be calm, making me wonder how he could be this calm in this situation.
“Don Sanchez, I have the proof,” Lucía said to Abuelo, waving her phone as she smirked at Bruno. She played a record containing her and Bruno's conversation where he told her his plans about getting a contract wife.
“You see, Abuelo? You see why I deserve to be your successor compared to this greedy cabrona?” Gael noted but something within me told me otherwise.
Bruno was quiet and I feared for him as I saw the glaring eyes Abuelo gave him. I instantly knew I did want to be a part of this. I just want to go back home to my family.
“Gael, leave us.” Abuelo said, still glaring at Bruno.
“Abuelo, you… you're not considering still giving him the cartel, right?” Gael stuttered, slowly getting angry. “f**k Abuelo, you know I'm your son too, right? I'm your f*****g…”
“Get out!” Abuelo shouted, making Gael jolt in fear, rushing out of the room with Lucía.
He carried the glass flower vase that stood on the table and threw it at the wall, just a few meters away from Bruno's head as I flinched. I took it as my cue to leave and I slowly stood up, attempting to disappear.
“Sit!” He commanded and I obeyed.
Pacing around, he questioned, “You dare try to deceive me? Me, Don Sanchez Erasmo?!”
“You left me no choice,” Bruno said, his demeanor calm and unwavering.
“What did you say?”
“What's going on?” The Abuela dashed in, scrutinizing the whole place. “What happened here?” She stared at the broken glass on the floor. I heaved a sigh of relief as she entered, maybe she could calm the tension.
“Your grandson brought in a fake wife and expects me to give him my business. Just imagine,” Abuelo sat down as Abuela stared at us. I gave her a nervous look but deep down, I just wanted her to go against this as well.
I once had dreams of becoming an actress. I pursued some training in acting, becoming very good at it and that was how I was able to convince them I was his son to be wife. However, I only did it because I was scared that he would harm my family.
“Well then, that's not a problem. We can find a solution to this, honey.” She walked up to Abuelo and sat next to him, placing her palm on his thigh, calming him.
“They can just date for six month. Maybe they could fall in love with each other and get married.”
“What?!” I exclaimed as they all snapped their heads to me and I smiled nervously again, scared that they may actually make me disappear.
“If after six months you don't make this scam real, I'll not only give Gael my business, I'll disown you.” Abuelo stood up and walked into a smaller room by the side. I stepped out, giving room for Abuela and Bruno to discuss.
I walked out slowly in deep thoughts. What is going to become of my life now? I know I had signed the document with Bruno but I had hoped his grandparents would stand against this on hearing the truth from Lucía, because how am I supposed to fall in love with a cruel man like Bruno?
During our shopping for my wears, I had asked Sofia about Bruno and she told me that he was a ruthless and cruel mafia who was also a playboy.
“Ahhhhh!” I screamed as I landed on the floor, face first. I turned around to see Lucía glaring at me, arms crossed. She set her foot for me, I absent-minded tripped on it and fell.
“What was that for?” I asked as I stood up, caressing my forehead which hurt.
“For bringing you back to reality.” She walked closer to me as I stared her back. “I know your kind, hiding under pretense of fear and innocence but deep down, you want Bruno to yourself. You want what is mine.”
“Uhn?” I asked. Did she hit her head on something? There's no way I'd want Bruno. I'd rather go back to Thomas even if he had fled like a coward.
“Let me make this clear, Bruno is mine and mine alone. No one's taking him away from me, especially not a filth like you.”
I chuckled on seeing how worked up she was. If she wanted him, why didn't she stay back with him? Sofia was so kind enough to tell me everything I needed to know about everyone even if all I asked her was about Bruno.
“Looks to me like you've lost him already. I might not be able to take him away from you, heck, I don't even want him. But I'm certain he won't be going back to a w***e like you.” I retorted, making her angry.
Next thing I knew, she landed a slap on me, making me wince in pain.
“Lucía!” Bruno's voice called.
“Ba… baby, she started it,” she said softly as I rolled my eyes at her.
“Let's go,” Bruno simply said as he glared at her and attempted walking past her but Lucía held his hands.
“Baby… I only did it cause I couldn't bear losing you.”
“You have one second to let go of my hand, Lucia,” he said with a growl and she quickly let him go, leading the way out as I followed.
I stared at him from the side and I could see anger seeping through him. He looked like he was about to go devour someone and I feared for whoever it might be.
We stepped outside and met with an awaiting Pedro who opened the car for me to enter.
“Follow Pedro home and get to bed. I have some things to take care of,” he walked into his Mercedes and zoomed off as I entered the other car.
We were on our way to the mansion when suddenly a black van zoomed past us and blocked our car from moving. Three men in masks came down and one of them shot Pedro on his palm, making me scream. They dragged me to the van and locked it.
As I screamed and shouted for help, another man gave me a blow that completely knocked me off.
