I glared at my phone as Leo's name flashed across the screen. Irritation crawled up my spine like an unwelcome parasite. That incompetent fool. Just seeing his name reminded me of my failed attempts to locate Ms. Frost these past weeks.
Since that brief encounter at the reception, she'd vanished like mist—no trail, no scent, nothing. And this i***t Leo was partly to blame.
I swiped to answer, not bothering to mask my contempt. "What do you want, you useless piece of s**t?"
"I told you to keep tabs on Sylvia, and what happens? She's somehow pushed forward the Vertex project right under our noses." My wolf was snarling inside, hackles raised. "Can't you follow one simple order without screwing it up?"
