I tore my eyes from his and nervously held my seatbelt tighter.
I didn’t expect him to say that he wanted to marry me or anything like that, but the lack of emotion that he answered me with made my heart drop into my toes.
When we were together, he would light up when talking about marriage or kids.
He even once told me that being a father would be the greatest adventure of his life if he had someone to love at his side.
The way he talked about it now, it was almost as if his family would be nothing more than a business deal—not like they were living beings with feelings and wants.
“That’s only appropriate.” I said, bringing my gaze back to his. “I don’t have any objections, and it doesn’t concern me.”
