The rich, amber scent of his cedar cologne is like a quiet threat as Cade keeps me trapped against his office door. The smell is smooth and dangerous. Just as he is.
“Tell me the truth,” he says, his voice low and intense.
I look him directly in the eyes, refusing to flinch. “There’s nothing to tell.”
He glares at me in silence for a long time, our eyes locked in a deadly staring contest. I desperately want to look away, but I know I can’t give him the satisfaction. A churning sensation forms in the pit of my stomach as Cade’s dark gaze penetrates me, dissecting my every lie.
