Cade’s POV My hand seems to have a mind of its own as I instinctively place it over Harper’s eyes. Her skin is clammy to the touch and her breaths have become shallow and quick. When we were younger, Harper used to faint at the sight of blood. I would always be the one there to cover up her eyes and keep her relaxed. The realization dawns on me and I feel a sharp twinge shoot through my heart as I remind myself that we’re not those people anymore. I quickly withdraw my hand from her face.
