Harper’s POV
I couldn’t look away as Cade gazed into my eyes waiting for an answer, there was a tension settling in the air between us and I couldn’t figure out if it was good or bad or what else it could be.
Someone cleared their throat and both of us snapped our attention to them—it was the man Cade had ripped away, Anthony.
“You know each other?” Anthony asked. “Damn, Young Leone, I didn’t accidentally touch your w***e, did I?”
Cade snarled and turned around, his back in front of me still blocking me from the other men—whether intentionally or not, I wasn’t sure.
But it made my heartbeat pick up to know he would protect me, just like he once did.
“She is my whore.” Cade answered angrily.
And just as quickly as he made my heart race, with those four words it deflated like a ballo
