Once I had reached the pack house, standing by the gate was Jake, probably looking out for me.
When he sighted me, I saw the relief in his eyes. I really hope he hadn't forgotten that I was the Lycaon King and my predecessors' reputation made sure no one was dumb enough to try anything funny to anyone with the Lycaon King title. Also, I was very much capable of protecting myself. He had nothing to worry about. That little incident that happened earlier was probably nothing.
"Five minutes later and I would have sent out a search party," Jake said with a smile when I had reached him.
