Alone in the moonlit forest, I took a moment to steady myself. My heart continued to race, and my breaths came in ragged gasps. It was disorienting, being thrust into this situation without any warning or explanation from Kayden.
"Kayden, what the heck was that?" I muttered, my voice a mix of anger and confusion.
Suddenly, a low growl rumbled in my mind, and I could almost feel Kayden's annoyance. "You were taking too long to get where you needed to be. I couldn't let you waste any more time. You should be grateful I didn't make you run any faster. I could have."
I rolled my eyes, a habit I had picked up from dealing with Kayden's sarcasm. "Next time, warn me before you hijack my body, okay?"
