"I'm so, so sorry," Marla said and scrambled to her feet.
"Were you eavesdropping on our conversation?" Jack asked with a c****d eyebrow. We were the only ones who knew about my room being soundproofed and Jake had no intention of giving it away.
"N... No, of course not. I just got here. I was about knocking when you opened the door. I didn't expect it, so I tripped and fell." She explained quickly, her eyes on me.
It was obvious to us that she was lying. She has definitely been there earlier and has been eavesdropping but of course, she wouldn't have heard a word no matter how hard she had strained her ears.
