Suddenly a gunshot sounded in the dark hallway behind her, echoing off the high vaulted ceilings. Instinctively, Morgan crouched low behind the altar but the sound was further away and she realized quickly that she wasn’t in immediate danger. Jake, she thought, her heart racing. Pulling her weapon from the shoulder holster, she ran on light feet towards the sound, as silent mummies looked down on her with vacant eyes.
