Delta caught up with Mira and stopped her. She turned her around and saw tears on Mira’s face. She closed the gap between them and wiped her tears away.
Mira pushed Delta away and ran, leaving Delta behind. Caspian and Ara came running towards her. Delta gave Ara a small smile.
Ara got closer to her, “Get your heart back. I want to love you and I want you to love me with real emotions. Until then I think we should keep our distance. I really like you Delta, I hope you can be considerate towards my feelings.” Ara kissed Delta on the cheek and walked away.
Caspian sighs and hugs his sister. “You should get your heart back. I know it will be difficult, but I’ll be here to help you. Plus, Ara seems like a good girl, she deserves a fair chance to win you over.”
Delta stayed quiet and walked towards her place. She went to her room and laid down on her bed. Should I get my heart back? Should I just leave it? She started thinking about what to do.
She got under her covers and slept the thoughts away.
When she woke up, it was already morning. She decided to wash up and go get something to eat.
“You’re up, hungry?” Caspian came out of the living room.
“Yea, I’mma go to Mickey’s and get something. Want something?” Delta grabbed her sweater and her wallet.
“Yea get me their special.” He told her as he went back into the living room. She nodded and headed out.
When she got to Mickey’s she ordered two specials and waited for her food. “Hey.” She turned around and saw Mira there.
“Hey.” She turned around. Mira softly sat next to her, and Delta gave her a side glance. “Won’t your boyfriend get upset if he sees you near me?”
Mira bit her lip, “He actually left, morning practice.” Delta nodded. “I actually wanted to talk to you.”
“About?” Delta asked.
“Are you and Ara being serious with each other?” Mira played with her fingers.
Delta lifted an eyebrow, “What’s it to you?”
“Did you really take out your heart? Is it possible for a mermaid to live without one?” Mira leaned in to her.
Delta turned to face her, but she didn’t know Mira was too close. Mira just stared at Delta, “Don’t worry about me. I did what I did for my own sake, nobody else's. As long as it’s beating somewhere, I stay alive. Now for Ara and I, that’s between us. If I decide to put my heart back, while Ara is around, I promise you I will only look at her and her only. You will no longer matter to me. I’m sorry, but I’m not sorry.”
“Your order is ready.” The waitress brings the food to Delta. Delta looks at Mira one last time and gets up, grabbing her order. She walks out, leaving Mira behind.
When she gets home, she goes into the kitchen and Ara is there. Why can’t I take a break from these girls? Delta places the bag on the counter and walks over to Ara, “Why are you here?”
“I wanted to see you. Now that I see you I’ll go.” She gives Delta a soft smile.
Delta nods and goes, takes the food out of the bag. Ara’s smile disappears and she walks out. Caspian walks in and takes his container. “We have vacation this whole week right?”
Caspian looks up at his sister, “Yea, why?”
“Do you plan on doing something?” She asks him.
“Yea, probably with the guys. Why?” He questions her again.
“I’m going to Greece. I need space.” She starts eating. Caspian looks at her and nods softly. When she was done eating she headed to her room. She started packing her things. Caspian came in and sat down on her bed.
“Are you sure you’ll be okay?” He looked worried.
Delta smiles at him, “Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. I really need it. After I come back, I’ll make a decision.”
Caspian smiles and nods. He gets up and hugs his sister goodbye, “Be careful out there. Contact me if anything.” She nods at him and smiles.
The warm breeze hit her skin, she smiled at the sensation. Santorini, Greece, what a beauty.
