"Is today your birthday?" Henry asked again, but I could only stare at the door, wondering how Alex knew it was my birthday.
I raised my gaze, and it met with Henry's eyes. I quickly looked away, avoiding eye contact. I wondered when he had started taking an interest in my daily life.
"Is today your birthday, Niylah?" Liam's voice proclaimed, and I nodded gently. "Yes, today is my birthday."
A gasp fell from Xandra's mouth. "But how on earth did Alex know about that?" Xandra asked.
I raised my brow. "How did you know?" I asked Alex.
He looked away, as if I had asked him a difficult question. "I just found out on your phone... your mom wished you an advance birthday," he replied.
