Chapter 16: Warning signs

Liam arrived within 15 minutes after I mind linked him. He found me in my bathtub with my knees pulled towards my chest.

If you are wondering why the bathtub well since I was younger this was my go to place to go hide or just to feel secure.

To explain it more precisely it's like having walls that surround you but comfort you. They are short and don't cover your head and you feel protected and in control of your little area.

Luke my best friend when I was a child used to hide with me.

**13 years ago**

Mom and Dad went to a meeting to the neighboring pack so they dropped me off at the pack house for Sofia to look after me. Sofia had a daughter Kate and considering I was a five year old, who got along with pretty much everyone, it wasn't a surprise that her and I got along pretty well.

We were playing in the garden pretending to be princess, when Logan and Luke came over. They were twin brothers and they lived at the pack house on most days because their parents were constantly on the move, considering they were our packs trackers.

They were three years older than us but at the time age wasn't really an issue as long as you were ready to play dress up, or play warrior princes.

We decided on playing hide and seek so Logan was the first to seek us out. I ran into the pack house searching for the best hiding spot, but I came up short.

I started to get upset because there wasn't any where for me to hide. But out of no where Louis grabbed my hand.

I followed him up the stairs to one of the guest bedrooms.

He smiled and said,

"This is one of the best places to hide because there is a closet, a bed to hide under and a bathroom!"

I giggled and looked around trying to find a good place to hide. I walked into the bathroom grinning when I saw the bath tub.

Getting in and making myself small I hid away.

I was shocked when Luke came and hid with me but I shrugged thinking because he was so big he would be found first meaning I wouldn't be the one seeking.

I wasn't sure how long we sat there crouched but my legs started to feel achy and I was getting bored. So I sat up and turned to Louis. We started to play games like, tick-tack-tow, Simon says and honestly many games that we could in the small space we inhabited.

"Where do you think they are?" I asked Luke.

He shrugged and said "Not sure Logan does what he wants a lot and gets bored really quickly"

I frowned, "But where's Kate? She didn't run into the house like we did so she must have been found first."

"They are probably playing other games or even helping Miss, Sofia bake"

This saddened me I thought I had gained a good friend today but she didn't seem to worry much about me.

Logan looked at me and saw my saddened face, "What's wrong?"

"I don't have any friends" , I wailed softly.

"I could be your friend if you want?"

"No you will leave me too!"

"I pinky promise I won't leave you, we can even be best friends if you want"

"But your a boy" I grumbled

Looking upset Luke angrily said, "So?"

"Boys have cooties!"

"Well, we've been in this bathtub for awhile so you have them too! See? We can be best friends now"

Thinking about what he said I eventually turned to him completely.

"As long as you pinky promise to not leave me"

Holding out his pinky, "I promise".

**Present day**

So here I was, upset and scared for my life hiding.

Liam got in the bath tub and pulled me towards him. My head leaning on his chest, while his arms engulfed me protectively.

He stroked my hair and whispered I'm my ear, "I've got you, your safe no one will ever hurt you I promise"

I tried to find comfort in his words but all I heard where the sirens going off in my head making me doubt everything.

We sat there silently trying to find comfort that we were both safe but we both knew that there was little that we could do. The enemy had been inside our house, my home.

It was as if they wanted to give out warning signs. Making sure that we didn't feel safe.

It was in that moment I knew who ever this "L" character was they meant business and they would stop at nothing to get what they want.

But what worried me most of all is that I wasn't sure what they wanted. They could want me as they have said so often but some like this wouldn't stop there they would ensure to get what ever they could in the process.

I just hoped that we stopped them before anyone got hurt.

With these thoughts racing in my head I slowly fell asleep cuddled into my mates arms knowing that tomorrow was going to be a long day.
