26I woke up hugging one of my pillows, my heart racing with mixed emotions of fear, wonderment, and . . . longing. I quickly shoved the pillow away. It wasn’t Gideon. I’d just been in Gideon’s arms, and it was where I really wanted to be. This was so disturbing. Nightmares and just plain weird dreams, which twisted and bounced from one place to another, making no sense in their nonsequential timeline and interruptions. The night had been filled with running from the Dark Ones. Hiding, escaping, fighting—only to be interrupted as the dream shifted to the forest and being astride Eyvindur.
