Chapter 4 : Boarding house

CHAPTER 4

After the enrollment, we eat at a restaurant around Manila. We ate at Dencio’s fine dining. My mom and my dad want to eat first before finding a boarding house. But I guess that Manila is a long drive and we only get breakfast before going to Manila. I am sure that they are starving already.

Loreen, Queen, Marie, and Ariella, together with their parents Eat with us. It will be less hassle if you will eat together.

While eating, the topic is still about the boarding house and about our college life. They are talking about if we can really survive in our new environment and how are we going to adapt to the changes around us. I know that they are contemplating letting us live in a boarding house. I am not bragging, but we all came from a wealthy families.

I don’t know if these four girls know how to do household chores. I know how to do everything around the house, I know how to wash the dishes, I know how to cook, I know how to clean, I know how to wash my clothes, and also iron clothes. My mom told me that nothing is permanent in this world. The money can vanish anytime. So, I need to know all of these things, I need to be responsible enough for myself and for my future.

They are talking about what will be our setup. I suggested that we should stay in the boarding house that will be only for the five of us only. That the whole house is just for us. What I am saying is that it will be private for us.

The four girls agreed with me. I know that they will agree. It will be hard if I will live alone. I don’t have any colleagues or friends around Manila.

My cousins are not here in the Philippines, my friends are in Batangas, some of my colleagues migrated abroad and some of them stayed in Batangas, we don’t really have that many relatives here in the Philippines, especially in Manila. If they are not abroad they are in the provinces living their peaceful life on their farms and their haciendas. So it will be hard for me if I will live alone here in Manila, so I know that living with these girls is a good idea. Even though we really don’t know each other, personally or we just know our names I know that we can create a good bond together.

After eating, our parents decided to find a boarding house near the southeast university. They said that it would be better if the boarding house that we will find we can find later it’s inside the subdivision. So it will be more secure, it will be safer. They really worry a lot. It is normal, especially for my parents because I am an only child.

Let’s go. That is what I heard from my dad. So I walk directly towards our car that is just parked outside the restaurant.

We are the last ones who leave the restaurant because our car is parked in the last row of the parking area. We went to a lot of subdivisions but it is really hard to find a perfect boarding house for the five of us. We are considering a lot of things, We are considering its size, its security, and its distance from the southeast university. We want it to be as near as possible to our university so that it will be less hassle for us. Even though we have our own cars, or we can just share cars, it will be less hassle if it is near the university.

After hours of finding we finally found a boarding house that will fit the five of us. It is not that huge, it is not that small, but it is exactly the best fit for the five of us. It is inside a subdivision it is not far away from our school. So I think, this is the best boarding house for us.

The boarding house is inside the subdivision, a subdivision named Bliss. There is a lot of boarding house inside the subdivision. Maybe because it is near the universities.

This boarding house is very simple. There is a living room, there is a kitchen, there is a dining area, there are their tickets and, there are two bathrooms one upstairs and one downstairs, and there are five bedrooms and it this really fits the five of us. The supplier of water is not a problem, and the supply of electricity is not a problem also. And there is also Wi-Fi included in the rent. This is really the best fit for the five of us, the vibe is very cozy, and it is very homey.

I told them that I want the room at the end of the hallway. And they agreed it is totally fine with them. I just want it that way. The rooms already have their own single beds but I want to buy a new one a bigger one. And I will also put some wallpaper on the walls and I will put some carpet. And maybe, I will just bring or buy some cabinets, I will just buy anything that I need before finally settling in here.

When we were done picking our own respective rooms. We went down already. We saw our parents waiting for us on the couch. I think the couch is too small for them so some of our parents are just standing or just sitting in the dining area.

My mom asked me if we are done checking out the rooms and choosing our own rooms.

Yes, we are done choosing our rooms. Maybe we will just go back here to change a few things, and bring our own appliances, or just fix or renovate our rooms for the next five years. I told my mom.

So when are you planning to go back here to Manila, to bring your things? My mom asked again.

Mom, can I go back here maybe on Sunday? I asked my mom. I want to finish fixing my room as soon as possible so I can be here anytime I want. So that I Can practice and live independently, away from them.

Then, it’s totally fine with me. Are you going alone? My mom asked me.

Um, I think these girls will go with me on Sunday because they are also planning on fixing their rooms. I answered.

I saw the other girls talking to their parents, maybe they are talking about going here on Sunday about fixing their rooms and buying appliances, and bringing the things that they will need.

I saw my mom look at the other parents before asking if they are done or if they are okay with the boarding house and if they were going to settle about the payment to the landlady. And the parents of the girls agreed with my mom so I think the conversation when good.new line Then it is time to go home. We are done with today’s agenda.

I heard my dad call me and he told me that we are good to go. I hope that the traffic is not as heavy as I imagined. Because it is really hot right now here in Manila, it is double or triple the heat at Batangas.

My mom asked me when I entered our car what things I will need and what things I need to buy so that they can give me money or they can just ask someone to buy it for me.

I can’t literally explain or tell my mom about the things that I will need directly because I need to write them. So I am sure I list all the things that I will need, or I can just simply give the paper to my mom without her asking over and over again what are the things I will need.

Mom, is there any paper or bold in there on the dashboard? I asked my mom. She looked at me before checking the dashboard if there was anything that I can use on writing the things that I will need for my room at the boarding house.

Jamie, there is only a tissue and a ballpen here, is that OK? My mom looked at me and asked. I nod my head and get the paper the tissue and the ball pen on her hold.

I started writing the things that I will need on the tissue paper. I hope this will not be wrecked very well I want to organize my room as soon as possible.

The traffic is not heavy so we arrive at our home in Batangas after two hours.
