Chapter 13

1220 Words
~Jasmine~ We arrived in Las Vegas last night around 8 p.m. which meant that we got to the house and went directly to bed from jet lag. Joaquin arranged the first three fights of Vincenzo so tightly because they wanted to squeeze in a few nights of living the Las Vegas experience. They are extremely happy to spend some time together as a family, and I’m happy about that too. But I’m also looking forward to some me time. I got up around 8 in the morning wanting to explore Las Vegas and take some pictures. Tonight is Vincenzo’s fight, which means I can’t be out for too long, I will just snap some pictures and be home just in time to leave with the guys for the boxing match. - I smile at myself when I capture a picture of a little girl with a big smile on her face. I have been to three different locations already and the photos have ended up looking amazing. I’m currently at the Fountains of Bellagio, it’s still early for the fountains to be on, but it is still a very beautiful place, filled with different people feeling different emotions. I take a deep breath and squint my eyes when I look up at the sky. It’s too hot here, I move away from the mass of people, in search of someone selling refreshing. As I’m walking around looking for some water, I feel a hand wrap around my elbow and yank me sideways. Before I could scream for help a hand slapped against my mouth, shutting me up. Oh God, this is it. This is how I die. A tear slips from my eye, as I start to shake vigorously. “Why are you crying?” a gruff voice questions me, and in an instant, I recognize the voice. “Oh my God, it’s just you!” I exclaim and relax in his embrace. “I thought something bad was going to happen to me” I exhaled and looked sheepishly at Vincenzo. “And something bad could have happened,” he says growling in anger, but he doesn’t seem entirely angry at me. I can see his eyebrows furrowed in worry, and his eyes shining with a hint of uneasiness. “This is Vegas Angel, anything can happen to you, and I wouldn’t have a clue on where to start looking for you!” he exclaims while shaking me vigorously as if shaking me would make me understand better what he is saying. I do understand where he is coming from, what I don’t understand is why he called me Angel. It’s not the first time he has done it, the first time was when we first met at the company’s private gym. I asked around for some information about this Angel, but no one knew about her, hell no one had ever seen her. “Are you even listening to me?” Vincenzo snarled in annoyance, and I blink rapidly at him. “Does this mean that you care about me?” I ask him sweetly and bat my eyelashes at him. Vincenzo’s nose scrunches up in disgust and he lets his hands fall from my arms. I think I might have just hit a nerve. Oh, am I going to enjoy teasing him, just like he does to me. “What are you even doing out here all alone?” he asks, and I squint my eyes looking up at him, I place my hand over my eyes shielding them from the sun. “I wanted to -“ My words get stuck in my mouth when Vincenzo takes off the sunglasses he is wearing and gently puts them on my face. I feel my cheeks get hotter at his sweet gesture, and it makes my heart skip a beat. Maybe he isn’t that much of an asshole. Maybe there is actually a kind side to him. “I wanted to take some photos,” I tell him, as I clear my throat, fidgeting with my camera. “Okay, so where to next?” he asks as he looks around. “You don’t have to chaperon me,” I tell him with a laugh, but he only narrows his eyes at me. “I got nothing better to do until the night,” he tells me with a shrug. “Besides that, way I can keep an eye on you, angel,” he tells me with a smirk. There he goes again with that nickname; I think he is getting way too comfortable in using it. “Then you can model for me,” I tell him with a smile, and I notice how his cheeks take a deeper shade. His eyes widen when he notices my lingering eyes on his face. Vincenzo looks away and hides his face with a cough. “I’m not much of a model.” “Too bad champ,” I tell him as I pat his broad chest. “Champ?” he questions looking at me weirdly. “Well, if you are going to keep calling me angel, then I get to call you champ,” I tell him with sass, and I hear him chuckle. Vincenzo was tense when I asked him to model in front of the replica of the tower Eiffel. “Can you relax a little bit?” I ask him and I see him let out a sigh of irritation. “I’m trying” he growls, and I roll my eyes. Nope, he is still an asshole. “Okay, let’s try something else” I let go of my camera and let it hang on my neck. I walk over to Vincenzo, and he is looking at me intensely. When I’m at arm’s length I smile sweetly at him, he raises a brow, questioning me. “What are you do-“ Before he could finish his sentence, I start to tickle him everywhere. He pulls away from me with a laugh, and I can see his two dimples, the ones that he barely shows to anyone that are not his brothers. “Now you are relaxed,” I tell him with a smile, and I see him exhale happily. I make my way to the spot I was in earlier; I align my camera to my face and snap the perfect photo. We try another location and Vincenzo is warming up to being in front of the camera lens. I’m about to take another photo but furrow my brows when I look at Vincenzo from my camera. I let go of the camera and started laughing. Vincenzo is posing with a funny face, when he hears my laughter, I see how his eyes twinkle with happiness. I didn’t notice when he stepped closer to me and placed his hand on my cheek. I lean into his touch, and I see how his eyes drift from mine to my lips. Before he leans into me, he seems to have snapped out of his trance, he drops his hand and steps away from me as if I had a deadly disease. “Anywhere else you want to go angel?” he asks me without even looking at me, and I feel a tug on my heart, feeling disappointed.
