Jeffery

Alice - POV As Jeffery's eyes scanned the paper on the desk, Isha's voice cut through the air with a venomous hiss. "Get out of my house, Jeffery." My heart raced as I felt a hand on my shoulder, and I turned to see Isha standing beside me, her persistent presence giving me the strength to face my monstrous mate. Jeffery's eyes flicked at her, and anger rippled through his features. "Let us go home now," he commanded, his voice cold and controlled. I shivered, feeling the weight of his dominance pressing down on me. "She won't go anywhere," Isha shot back sternly. I gripped her hand, silently urging her to stay calm. "Stay out of this, Isha," Jeffery growled, his gaze fixed on me. "She is my mate and wife. She will stay with me." I knew better than to argue with him. If Isha continued to challenge him, it wouldn't be long before Jeffery's violence erupted again. I couldn't risk putting her in danger. "Isha, please let me go," I whispered, hoping she would understand. "No, he will hit you again, and I can't let you suffer more," she snapped, her eyes blazing with defiance. Jeffery's temper flared at her words, and I saw his dragon scales emerge on his neck. Isha didn't back down, though. She met his gaze head-on, unafraid. As Jeffery swung towards her, I felt the scene shift into slow motion. I stepped between them without hesitation, determined to protect Isha at any cost. But a brutal blow struck my cheek before I could react, sending me reeling to the ground. I groaned, struggling to regain my senses as I felt the weight of Jeffery's rage bearing down on me. "Why did you step in between, Alice?" he hissed, his eyes blazing with fury. Through the haze of pain, I saw Isha rush to my side, her voice ringing out with concern. "Alice, are you okay?" Tears stung my eyes as I struggle to my feet, the agony in my cheek throbbing with every heartbeat. "I'm used to it," I muttered, brushing off her concern. But Isha wouldn't let it go. "Stay away from Alice," she hissed, her gaze locked onto Jeffery's. As he tightened his grip on me, I could feel his anger boiling over once more. Dread washed over me as I braced for the worst. "What do you mean? She is mine," he growled, his voice laced with possessiveness. I met Isha's eyes, silently urging her to keep calm. With every fiber of my being, I knew we had to find a way out of this. I couldn't go on living in fear, trapped in Jeffery's twisted hold. But for now, all we could do was stand and wait, hoping for a chance to break free. Jeffery dragged me away from Isha's house, and I could feel her sorrowful gaze. Even Grandma looked at me with the same expression. Jeffery shoved me into the hallway of our home. The place that I thought would be a sanctuary had turned into a hellhole with the man I was with. "What are you up to?" He held my jaw in his palm, his grip too tight. "Nothing, I just went to meet Isha," I whispered, trying to loosen his grip. "I never knew my mate could be a liar," he smirked. "I am not lying," I moaned as his grip got tighter. "Do you want me to apologize to you for sleeping with another woman?" He said with a smirk. I pushed his hand away, and his gaze held anger at my question. "Do you think this is my first s****l encounter with another woman? I have been with many; why should I apologize? You are my mate, my wife," he said, his tone condescending. "Yes, I am your mate and wife, not an animal to treat so badly. Even animals are treated well by others, but you are a monster, a pathetic asshole I put up with," I snapped, my eyes filled with tears of betrayal and outrage at his words. "Hmmm... my mate, I've never heard you be so bold with words." He smirked evilly. The courage I had mustered seemed to vanish as my aura changed, which was scary. I had never sensed his power like this. "Tell me, Alice, what are you planning? I can sense something is up," Jeffery asked threateningly. "I told you nothing," I hissed, trying to keep my voice steady. Before he could attack me, I shoved him away and ran for the door. I knew Jeffery was a monster; if I stayed, he would try to get the information out of me. "Alice, don't run away," Jeffery hissed behind me, blocking my path. But I kept moving away from him as he got closer. I could hear my heart beating so fast. His aura was so strong it choked my dragon with the help of our mate bond. "Let go of my dragon bond," I screamed in agony as his dragon manipulated my dragon's power. "Be obedient and tell me," Jeffery said. I shut my eyes, waiting for the impact of his blow to come at me. But suddenly, Isha's voice rang into my ear, and the door burst open to reveal her and the Dragon guards.
