CHAPTER 21

Sophia played into the narrative of being the Dr. Luckily, her mom taught her a few things, and she picked up others over the years. Lola knew her ability to weave so she used that to her advantage and told her that being a Dr she could use her weaves to close up wounds, make braces, and take a little blood and expand it so to do blood infusions. It was all true, but these were not things she had done before, but she made note so as to inform Shane that she could do these things if necessary.

Sophia had Laurel bring a clean change of clothes for Lola. She cleaned and cared for her wounds, even though most had already healed. While she was tending to Lola, she casually asked about why she was there, how she was, about Lola's cub and her chosen mate. Lola did not say much. She just kept looking between Laurel and Sophia. (Mind-link) I think she wants to talk, the way she keeps shifting her eyes, I'm gonna step out, distract her so I can do a communication weave, I'm going to open up the weave to Shane so he can hear strait from her, it will only take me a moment"(End Mind-link)

Sophia excused herself. "I'm going to go make an elixir to help you with the pain and to sleep, I'll be right back. Laurel, keep an eye on her" With that Sophia left to the kitchen and started to work on a weave that would create a link between the guest house and the clan house, anything from that point on that was said in the guest house could be heard in the library of the clan house. The clan leaders were due back in about an hour, so we had to work fast. Shane, let me know through mind-link that the weave worked.

Sophia made a simple solution for sleep and an additional pain remedy to bring when she went back to Laurel and Lola. Once she gave the medication to Lola she turned to Laurel "she is going to be sleeping soon, why don't you go get something to eat, I'll watch her for a bit" Laurel bowed her head and left, heading strait to the main house and the library.

Sophia did not waste any time, onces she was sure Laurel had time to get to the library she turned and looked Lola dead in the eyes "So, you going to tell me what you are doing here?" Lola just looked at her, she let the tears start to flow again, for someone that was as strong as Sophia remembered, she sure shed a lot of tears, it was pathetic. "Well, if you won't tell me why you are here, at least tell me of my mother, is she OK, is she still happy, does she ever speak of me?"

Sophia was counting on Lola's ignorance on witches. Once a witch became of age, family ties were broken. Because of the unnatural long life span of a witch, the family unit ties did not really exist past becoming of age or that of mates. The pain of losing loved ones would become to much as siblings could be many many years apart, mothers could outlive half breed children that took on a mates abilities instead of becoming a witch, and because all witches could be traced to one single witch, the mother of all witches, to have family bond could be detrimental to the entire race as they are all related. But not many knew this, and she was hoping that Lola was one still ignorant to the way of the witch. True she left so her mom could be happy, but more so because she knew staying and seeing her mate with another would drive her into the darkness that so many witches found alluring, and if she went there she would drag any other witch around her down with her and that was not something she was willing to do.

Lola wiped the tears from her eyes. "I haven't seen home in years, Zed, he is a warlock, well he took over our pack and took me as his slave. A couple of wolves caused a commotion yesterday, and it gave me the opportunity to escape. I just want to go home, but Zed left men there. Do you have an army here that can help go save our home, save your mom?" She took the bait, now to get her to think we are weak, so she gives up information that will help us win this war. "You have seen we don't have many forces, but still, I'm surprised you found us, I was told we are so far in the untamed wilderness that no one should find us, yet here you are, our leaders are very leary of strangers and you make the third one in three days, I don't think they will just let you and I walk out. How can we get out to help my family, I'm a witch and can weave spells, but not here, unless they are approved by Alpha." It was not true that I needed Alpha to approve my weaves, but I needed her to think I was weak, I needed to know how they found us, how she got in. Shane and Alpha both thought it was too convenient with how they found us so fast after Laurel came of age, and with many shifters coming in over the years, he was sure someone inside must be helping Zed. I was hoping to find out who.

She looked torn, not sure if she should talk to me, but then she started to speak "I'm not sure but I think Zed has someone on the inside, Zed can enter my mind, a mind-link kind of thing but it's his essence. I can see him and can talk with him in my dreams, well as long as I have the charm. This charm he gave me is the key for him to dreamwalk. He can only talk with those who wear his charm when they sleep. Tonight when he comes, I'll see if I can find out if he has another here, but you must promise to help me, I know how to save our families, but I need your word. Meanwhile, you look for someone wearing a charm like this. " Lola holds up a ring hanging from a sring. The ring looks to be made of some kind of metal but is black and suspended in the center of the ring, which is a blood red ruby that has been carved to look like a drop of blood. It was beautiful and haunting. I would remember, and I had seen something like that before, but a ring instead of a pendant, I do indeed believe I know who the traitor was. Lola pulled me from my thoughts "To insure we are safe, there is someone here I have to take with us when we leave, she is special and Zed will let us both go home and leave our family be if we bring her with us when we go. Do you think you can help. If you betray me, not only will I die, but so will your mom. You think about it. Tonight, I'll try to find out if there is another here that can help us. Meanwhile, you find this one that Zed wants, and she will be noticeable. Zed calls her his devine one. He speaks of her becoming his queen. She is old but immortal like Zed. Do you know who I speak of? And look for anyone who carries a charm. They will help us get out. " Sophia nodded.

She did indeed know, and she already knew who Zed was after, but she did not know he wanted to make her his queen. The fact that he didn't just want her blood was new information. They might be able to use it to their advantage. She hoped that Shane and Alpha had heard what was just said, and she hoped to get to them to inform them what the charm looked like before the rest got back to continue the meeting. The medication she gave Lola should take effect soon. "See what you can find out. We will need help to get out of here. I'll see what I can do to find the one you speak of. We will talk in the morning for I can not take the chance to return tonight, don't forget our Alpha and Beta will be by later to question you, its best if you're honest with them" she did not wait for a response and left, locking the suite door behind her. She cast a weave so no one could leave but deliberately left it so the place could be entered. She warned the guards but told them they were to tell no one. With that, she headed off to the library.
