CHAPTER 22 It’s only a dream

931 Words
Sophia ran as fast as she could to the library. She had to warn Alpha and Shane of the traitor before the others came back. She had just seen that ring this morning, the one that looked like the pendant Lola wore. She would have never guessed it. He was such a kind and caring man. There might have been others she suspected, but not him. When she came to this place, he was one of the first people she met. When she arrived back in the library, she explained to Alpha, Shane, and Laurel what the pendant looked like, and therefore, what the ring looked like. There was no doubt. Although the one who wore it claimed it was a gift from his cousin, we all knew this ring came from Zed. Alpha was enraged, but he knew he could not show his hand not yet anyway. He would get to the bottom of the deceit, but for now, they all had to play dumb so not to scare him away. When the clan leaders started to file back into the library, it was hard for Alpha or Shane not to grab the traitor by the throat, to sink teeth into him, and drain him off every drop of blood. Thankfully, they had a little time before everyone returned to come up with a plan. When It was time for Laurel to go over what she had learned from the moon Goddess, she left most of it out. She simply said the moon Goddess said that Zed could get his soul back and said nothing more as to how. Shane went over a few other security items, but then we cut the meeting short. We did ask everyone to stay close and available in the case that we needed them. As everyone was filling out of the library, Shane grabbed Cyrus, telling him he needed to go over living arrangements for the clan members that we would bring closer into the village from out in the forest. Once everyone was gone, Alpha grabbed Cyrus, forcing him to sit in one of the chairs by his desk. Shane grabbed one arm while Everett grabbed his other. Sophia walked over and pulled the ring off of Cyrus's hand. "What is the meaning of this?" Cyrus demanded. Why are you treating me like a criminal, and why did you take my ring. My cousin gave me that ring, you have no right!" "Oh, but you are the enemy, and your precious ring proves it," Sophia spit as she handed the ring to Laurel. "How could you pretend to care about us for so long while working with that evil man. Does Jackie know, or is she just someone else you're throwing away for that evil soulless warlock. What about your cubs. Cyrus, do you even care what happens to them?" Cyrus just sat there. He was beyond confused. "I have no idea what you are talking about, and I'll kill anyone that tries to hurt Jackie or my cubs. I've been loyal to you since the day I arrived. It may be true that I did not intend on staying, and I was not one hundred percent truthful about why I left my cousins pack, but I swear to you, I am not working for anyone but this clan. I don't know what you're talking about. " He was looking at us, just looking from one to the other, waiting for someone to say something. "So, you admit that you lied about why you left your cousin. Do you care to now tell us the truth in the matter?" Shane finally sneered, "and while you're at it, you can tell us about your dreams, and don't try to lie and say you don't have them. We know better. The more you tell us now, the easier we will be on your family. So speak slow, but be sure to speak truthfully. " Cyrus was trembling, "YES!!! I lied, I did so because my father was trying to force me to take the pack and become Alpha, but I had no interest. My cousin was so much more suited for it, When I refused, my father disowned me and then he gave his ring, this ring, to my cousin. He said it was blessed and that with it, the gods would guide him. My cousin said he would hold my place as Alpha until I returned, and then he gave me his ring, my father's ring. He said I should have it. And, as far dreams go, I don't understand. The only dreams I have ever had were of my father. They are simple dreams, but I'm sure they are only dreams. In my dreams, my father still cares about me and will ask about my life. He asks about my family, what it is like living here, if I'm happy. He asked how I found my way here, if it was a hard journey. He tells me how I have overcome so much, and he is proud, and then he hugs me. Every night I dream and every night I get a hug, that's how I know it's a dream, my father never hugged me. " If Cyrus was telling the truth, then his father was working with or for Zed, which was the only explanation to the dreams and how Zed knew about Emerald Lake and our clan. And if Zed had allies through out different packs and species that could help him, we were in much more trouble than we thought.
