Chapter Ten He knew the chief was already there as he climbed out of his Jeep and snapped his fingers to the dog, then pointed sharply and said, “Stay.” The dog lay down in the back, and Billy Jo stepped out of the passenger side. The sun was sitting just at the edge of the horizon, with only moments before darkness set in. He took in the chief’s car, with the Roche Harbor Police logo in blue with a gold star emblem, and he could feel his anger building with each step as he took in the scene ahead. A single boat was tied to the public dock, and four people were standing on the rocky shore, their backs to him. Billy Jo said nothing as she fell in beside him. Mark lifted his sunglasses and settled them in his hair on top of his head. His chief turned to him in a dark blue police jacket
