Chapter Six Swallowing her pride was an understatement. Billy Jo had to remind herself of her dad’s parting words before she’d dropped him off at the ferry after a quick bite. He’d basically done what he always had, figuring it was his responsibility to make sure she had her head screwed on straight. She wondered whether he had any idea of the dark thoughts that often plagued her, the growing hate for a woman who had abandoned her.
