James wrote the letter, pouring out his heart and soul onto the page. He told Emily how much he had enjoyed their correspondence, how much he wanted to get to know her better. He apologized if his previous letter had been too forward, if he had assumed too much. He shared his hopes and dreams, his fears and doubts. As he finished writing, James felt a sense of relief. He had been honest, open, and vulnerable. He had given Emily a second chance to respond, to connect with him. He sealed the envelope, addressed it, and mailed it, hoping against hope that Emily would respond this time. Days turned into weeks, and James waited, checking the mail every day, willing a letter to appear. He couldn't concentrate at work, couldn't sleep at night, thinking about Emily and her response. And then, one day, it happened. A letter arrived, addressed to James in Emily's handwriting. James's heart skipped a beat as he opened the envelope, pulling out the letter with trembling hands.
