James's eyes scanned the page, taking in Emily's hesitant words: "Dear James, I'm scared to write this letter. I'm scared to be honest, to open up, to risk getting hurt. I've been hurt before, and it's hard for me to trust again. But there's something about your letter that made me feel like I could be myself, like I could take a chance. I've thought about your words every day since I got your letter. I've wondered if I'm crazy to think that we might have a connection, that we might understand each other. I feel like we might have a chance, like we might be able to understand each other in a way that no one else can. I'm scared to admit it, but I feel a connection to you, James.
