Chapter two

I woke up to a beeping sound coming from my left. I opened my eyes only to close them once again due to the bright light that hid my face. I tried to move and was met with a pain that made me groan.  Why did it hurt so much?  “Lia? Are you awake?” I heard Ky’s soft voice.  I groaned in response unable to form a full sentence. I slowly tried to open my eyes again only to see Ky standing beside me with a worried expression on his face.  “What happened? Where am I?” I managed to choke out. My throat was dry and my head felt like it had been used as a football.  That was when I remembered the events of last night. Memories of falling down the stairs came flooding in and my body instantly began to tremble while my eyes searched the room for my foster dad.  “Hey… hey… it’s going to be okay,” Ky reassured me while grabbing my hand.  “After you came out the door you passed out in my arms. Your head was bleeding badly so I brought you to the hospital,” he explained. "They are not here. It is just you and me." I slowly looked around the room. The white walls made the light seem even brighter than it actually was. The only thing besides the bed was the monitors that I had been hooked up to and a chair that a assume Ky had been sleeping in.  God my head hurt and the beeping from the heart monitor sure wasn't helping.  “What happened last night Lia?” he asked turning my attention back to him.  I bit the inside of my cheek before responding.   “Eric happened,” was all I said as I watched Ky’s entire expression change.  “Again? Lia, you are not going back there, you can’t,” he almost yelled.  I couldn’t blame him. If I were him, I wouldn’t want me to go back there either. I had lost count of the number of times he had been there to pick me up or patch me back together after Eric had one of his episodes.  “I have to Ky. I have nowhere else to go,” I sighed.  “Let me worry about that,” was all he said before he took his phone out of his pocket and left the room.  I knew he was right. I couldn't go back there. Last night could have ended way worse than it did and next time it probably would. I looked up as the door opened once again.  Ky came in smiling almost running to my side.  “You are staying with me and some friends from now on.”  “Ky I can’t possibly do that. I don’t want to put this on to your shoulders,” I sighed. "Besides, what if he comes looking for me?" I asked.  “It’s not even up for discussion Lia. I would never forgive myself if something were to happen to you that I could have prevented,” he said with a frown. "And let him come. I would like to give him a piece of his own medicine," he huffed.  I could feel the tears starting to form in my eyes and I quickly tried to blink them away so Ky wouldn’t notice.  “Thank you,” I whispered while fiddling with my fingers unable to look him in the eyes.  “Hey, chin up princess, I’ll find the doctor so I know when I can get you out of here,” he said with a wink and left the room once again.  For the first time in a long time, I could breathe. I could finally breathe knowing I wouldn’t have to go back there. Back to them. 3 days passed and I was finally allowed to get out of here. They wanted to keep me for observation since I had such a bad fall, a fall they still weren't aware of how happened. If it wasn’t for the concussion, I would have been out of here the same day.  My wrist was sprained as well but luckily there were no broken bones. Neither Kiana nor Eric has tried to contact me which was a surprise, and Ky, for obvious reasons, had not contacted them to let them know I was in the hospital. Not that they would have come if they knew anyway.  I buckled the seatbelt just as Ky drove out of the parking lot.  “Where are we going?” I asked.  “To a friend’s house,” was all he said while focusing on the road.  As I watched the city disappearing behind me, I started to wonder how far away we were going.  Instead of asking I closed my eyes and listened to his soft hums before I drifted off to sleep.  I woke up to Ky’s voice telling me that we have arrived. I looked out the window and saw nothing but trees.  “Where are we?” I questioned while looking around.  “At my friend’s house like I said,” he said with a smile.  “House? I don’t see a house,” I stated.  “You will. Come on,” he said while getting out of the car.  I slowly opened the door and got out. The air was fresh, and the sun felt warm against my skin. I looked around. This was nothing like at home. This was peaceful and beautiful. It was exactly what I needed. While I was enjoying the view, I noticed two men approaching us.  Ky greeted them with a smile and made a gesture towards me.  “Come here,” he yelled with a smile.  I slowly walked towards him, still feeling a bit unsure about what was going on.  “You need to know that everything will make sense and you will be given an explanation as soon as possible, okay?” he said while shifting his weight to his other foot.  He only did that when he was nervous which made me look at him funny.  “We do things… a bit different around here,” he tried to explain. "Just... Trust me."   “Okay,” was all I could say.  I trusted Kyle with my life. Even though that this seemed a little odd, I wouldn't question him about it.  However, this was making me even more nervous. We started walking past the trees until we reached a small path that led up to a house. No that’s not a house I thought to myself while taking in the view. That was more like a freaking mansion.  “You call this a house?” I whisper yelled to Ky. He just shrugged while one of the guys in front of us laughed.  “Just wait till you see how it looks inside,” he laughed and winked.  “I’m Ryan btw and this i***t here is Cole,” he said while pointing to the blond guy next to him.  “Nice to meet you,” I said just before we reached the door.  They really weren’t kidding.  As we came through the doors my mouth fell open. Marble floors and stairs, giant windows, high ceilings, and exquisite taste in furniture. It was a nice and modern style, yet very homey.  “House my ass,” I mumbled under my breath.  “I told you so,” Ryan snickered.  “Who owns this? Why are there so many people here?” The questions just left my mouth without a second thought.  “You’ll meet him in a minute, Lia. All your questions will be answered. Just keep an open mind please,” Ky said while looking nervously around the room.  “Keep an open mind? Okay, you are officially freaking me out Ky. Who lives here?” I asked getting anxious.  “I do,” a dark husky voice spoke.  I turned around to where the voice came from and froze.
