Chapter four

1013 Words
Talia’s POV Ky and the other guy, I still don’t know the name of, had been gone for quite some time now. Maybe I shouldn’t have come here I thought to myself just as the two of them entered the room.  Ky stopped in the middle of the room and stood next to Ryan and Cole. The other guy walked over to me and I quickly got up from the couch, brushing my hands down my t-shirt.  “I didn’t get a chance to introduce myself earlier. My name is Shane Carter,” he said while extending his hand. I shook his hand and felt a sudden rush through my body. It was like when someone touched you and electricity went through your body, except that this felt good.  What the hell.  I looked at his now calm face and smiled. I liked this version of him better.  “My name is Lia,” I said before correcting myself.  “I mean Talia,” I said and looked to the ground.  “Well Talia, Kyle explained your situation and you are more than welcome to stay here,” he said with a warm smile that made me melt.  "Are you sure?" I asked. "I mean I don't want to intrude or anything," I quickly added.  “Nonsense. You are not intruding. I have a room for you, and it is being prepared as we speak,” he said.  “Until then you can take a look around and stop by the kitchen to maybe get some food on the way?” he more asked than stated.  As on cue, my stomach growled, and I could feel my face turn red instantly. Luckily for me, he just chuckled.  “Follow me,” he said while walking across the room and into a big hallway.  I tried my best to keep up with him as we walked but damn, he walked fast. I have rather short legs and I’m, not very big compared to him. As if he noticed my struggles to keep up, he slowed down and waited until I was next to him before he continued walking, but this time at a much slower pace than before.  We reached the kitchen and the most amazing smell hit my nose. Bacon. A girl cannot live without bacon I thought to myself while grinning.  “Mrs. K,” he said while walking over to an old lady standing by the stove.  “Shane my dear, to what do I owe the honor,” she laughed while flipping the bacon from the pan to a plate.  “My lovely guest here is hungry. She had quite a long journey,” he said while gesturing to me.  I smiled and waved at the lady who was now looking at me with a spark in her eyes.  “Oh, how lovely,” she said.  “Come here, dear. I hope you like bacon,” she said after noticing me staring at the stack of bacon on the table.  I nodded my head and gave her a small smile before taking a seat.  “I’ll leave her with you while I take care of some things,” Shane said before turning to me. “Whatever you need, just ask. You will be safe here,” he said touching my hand softly before turning around and leaving.  The damn sparks came as soon as he touched me and disappeared the second, he let go. I couldn’t help but feel… disappointed?  I think Mrs. K took my expression the wrong way.  “Don’t worry my dear. You are now under his protection. Nothing bad will happen to you here,” she said as she put a plate filled with eggs and bacon in front of me.  “Dig in.” I took the fork in my hand and started to eat. And wow did it taste good. I gave Mrs. K a reassuring smile that everything was perfect and she lighted up the room with an even bigger smile. I for some reason felt at home here which was something I had never thought was possible.   Shane’s POV   I didn’t want to leave Lia alone already, but Kyle and I had some stuff to figure out.  She didn't exactly smell like a human did and it was not just because she was covered in Kyle’s scent because first of all a wolf would be able to separate the different scents around it and second of all she didn't smell like much at all. Normally when a wolf meets their mate, they would be able to smell them even from afar, but I wasn't. it wasn't until I looked her in the eyes.  My suspicion grew when I noticed the way she reacted to my touch. She could feel the sparks too. A normal human would not react that way to meeting their mate. She was something else. Something… special.  I walked through the doors to my office and saw Kyle and Ryan talking. Kyle was my beta and Ryan was my third in command.  “Have you found anything?” I asked while taking a seat.  “No not yet,” said Ryan with a shrug.  “Maybe she is a werewolf too,” Kyle said.  “Wouldn’t she know that?” Ryan asked with a raised brow.  “Her parents died in a fire when she was a baby, so maybe not. I mean no one would be there to tell her,” Kyle said a bit unsure.  “It would make sense,” he added quickly.  “What do you mean?” I asked while leaning on the desk.  “Well, a wolf's first shift is when they turn 18 right?”  I nodded trying to understand where he was going with this.  “Well, Lia doesn't turn 18 until in 2 and a half weeks.”  Well, I’ll be dammed.
