CHAPTER 11

2863 Words
Jon went into the living room, trying to contain himself, but it was a fight lost in advance. He roared, as he grabbed the table, throwing it to the side. He pretty much did the same with the rest of the furniture in the room, trying to calm down by channeling his rage towards non-living things, instead of an innocent soul, who happened to cross his way, in his current state of mind. Moments later, he slumped to the floor, panting heavily, but with a calm mind. Or as calm, as the situation allowed. He had a hard time wrapping his head around the news. This was exactly, what he had been afraid of. What had made him keep his feelings for Leyla hidden in all these years. She had found her mate. But what he hadn’t accounted for, was that mate being someone as evil as f*****g Caleb. He wouldn’t let her go to him. He couldn’t do that to her. No matter what she felt about the situation. Though he couldn’t imagine her ever wanting to go to him. But what if she did? The thought made him sick to his stomach, and he buried his head in his hands, while he groaned in frustration. A careful knock on the door, caught his attention, but he didn’t move. A second later, Ben opened the door but only just enough for him to push his head through. “Is it safe to come in, or are you going to throw me around too?” he asked with a grin on his face. Jon removed his hands from his face and scowled at Ben. Right now, was not the time to be funny. Ben looked around the room and whistled. “Wow… You really did something with this place. Very nice interior design.” “What do you want?” Jon groaned through gritted teeth. Ben fully opened the door and stepped inside. He went through the mess and sat upon the couch, which was upside down on the floor. “I just wanted to give you the last bit of information. Which you missed… Because you wanted to shake up the living room a bit.” He said. Jon threw his head back and took in a deep breath. “Ben… If you keep doing that s**t, I will love to throw you too.” Ben chuckled but continued without delay. After all, he didn’t want to be thrown around and especially not by Jon. That man was a damn monster, when he was in the wrong mood. “Leyla can help us locate Caleb due to their mating bond.” Ben made a face, when he mentioned the mating bond between Leyla and Caleb, which made Jon calm down a bit. Ben seemed way too calm about all of this, and it made Jon uncomfortable. “How?” Jon scowled. Ben crossed his arms and shrugged, looking very carefree. “Apparently, you feel a physical pull towards your mate, when you’ve been close to it.” Jon looked at Ben without saying anything. He didn’t need to, as his eyes said it all. He was not happy with their plan, but Ben had to give it to Zack and Batch – it was a good plan. Ben sighed deeply. “I know that this is not the situation, we wished for, Jon. But it’s the best thing we’ve got.” “How can you be so calm about all of this, Ben? She’s mated to Caleb of all f*****g people.” Jon asked, the frustration clear in his voice. Ben shrugged, and a small smile played upon his lips. “I don’t see a problem, to be fair. Don’t get me wrong!” He said, putting both of his hands in the air, before Jon could interrupt. He looked like he was going to explode. “I DO NOT like the idea of Leyla being bonded to him, but… I am certain that Leyla don’t want to be mated with him, which is really all that matters. When he’s dead… Problem solved.” Jon took a moment to think about that. Ben was right… For once. Jon had heard about the mating bond though, and how strong it was. What if Leyla couldn’t fight it? He groaned, pushing his palms against his eyes. “I need to speak with Leyla…” he said, before he got back up to his feed. Ben nodded, though he seemed to have retreated to his own thoughts. He left Ben in the messed-up living room and sniffed for Leyla’s scent. It was weak in the hallway, but he managed to pick it up. He followed it all the way to Leyla’s room. He hesitated in front of the door. He wasn’t exactly sure, it was a conversation, he wanted to have, but it was a conversation that he needed to have. It was inevitable, especially given their history. He gently knocked on the door. Leyla, who had already picked up his scent, told him to come in. She was sitting in the bed, looking like s**t, but she had a smile on her lips, though her eyes looked haunted. He scanned her body. She was wearing an army green top and black shorts. She had scratches on one of her cheeks, which was obviously healed slashes. Her jaw was covered in bruises, revealing the fact that someone had grabbed her face with enough force to destroy several blood vessels. Her arms and legs were covered in scratches and bruises, teeth marks were visible, but everything was beginning to heal. Leyla watched, as he took in the injuries all over her body. The concern was evident in his eyes, and the rage of how they had treated her, was visible in the way his body tensed and his teeth gritted. His nostrils flared, and his eyes flashed red. “I’m okay, Jon.” She said quietly. Jon shook his head, regaining his composure, and he instantly looked calmer, at the sound of her voice. He went to her side, sitting down on the bed next to her and studied her face. “I’m really sorry, Leyla. I shouldn’t have sent you here.” He said, his voice full of regret. His eyes were so gentle, as he reached out to brush a piece of her hair behind her ear. His touch made her shiver, but in a good way. She sighed and closed her eyes, focusing on the effect, he still had on her. She felt so relieved, knowing that even though she had found her mate, her feelings and her body’s reaction to Jon hadn’t changed at all. Jon traced her skin from her shoulder down her arm, gently brushing over some of her scars. Her body still hurt, but it only felt like really sore muscles after a kick-ass training session. However, Zack had insisted that she stayed in bed for a few days, and every time she had tried to sneak out, he had been there in a second, shooing her back into bed. Jon felt immense relief, as he watched her shutter at his touch, and her always heavenly scent increased, as her body reacted to him being near. He had been so scared that she would reject him, the moment he tried to touch her, but she didn’t. Thank God, she didn’t. He wouldn’t know, what he would do, if she did. Her scent and the feeling of her soft skin beneath his fingers, made him momentarily forget everything about their current war and the Caleb-situation. Suddenly, Leyla opened her eyes and stared at him intensely with so much hunger and lust in her eyes that he felt a twitch in his groin. She grabbed his shirt and pulled him close to her. Just before their heads crashed, she held him still. Her nostrils flaring, taking in his scent, and her eyes closed once again, before she kissed him. He returned his kiss, gently, afraid of hurting her, but her lips insisted on a deeper kiss, and he could do nothing but give in. Her tongue brushed against his and a subtle moan escaped her chest, which made his chest vibrate, as a deep rumble erupted in response to her. He reached behind her, grabbing the back of her head, pulling her closer, which made her pull him down on top of her, as she lay back on to the bed. The increasingly intoxicating scent of her made it obvious that she wanted him, here and now, and even though he wanted nothing more, than to give her all of him, he broke their connection. Leyla opened her eyes and studied his face, a little annoyed that he had cut their embrace off. She was panting heavily, and she had to restrain herself from jumping on him like a wild animal. He shook his head. “You’re injured, Leyla.” Leyla groaned, as she pushed her head back into the bed. “It doesn’t hurt that much. I’m fine. Really.” A cocky smirk spread across his face, but he didn’t give in to her. Instead, he gave her a quick kiss on her lips, before he pushed himself back up. “Nope. I don’t want to hurt you, which there is a high possibility of happening.” He continued, his eyes turning black, his nostrils still flaring, and his voice became ragged with the deep lust he felt. “Almost losing you, makes me want to f**k the living s**t out of you.” Leyla smirked, cockier than ever. Relishing in his hunger for her. “Then do it. I dare you.” She said teasingly. He closed his eyes, as he hurriedly jumped off the bed and went to a chair, increasing the distance between them. “Nope. You will have to wait for that.” He smirked at her, though the restraint he was showing, was taking its toll on him. It was more than obvious. The bulk in his pants made it impossible to hide. She crossed her arms, looking really cute, as she lay there sulking. “You’re no fun.” He chuckled affectionately. She was the only one, who was able to drive him this mad with lust. The room was silent for a few moments, before he sighed deeply, finally pulling up the courage to initiate the inevitable talk. “Zack told me about the Caleb-situation.” In an instant, Leyla was sat back up, her eyes wide with horror. She stayed silent, while Jon patiently waited for her to talk to him. She looked down, fumbling with the hem of her shirt, which she often did, when she was uncomfortable. “I’m not sure, what to say Jon. I hate it. I absolutely despise him, and the mating bond haven’t changed that fact.” She was silent once again, but Jon had the feeling that she wasn’t done, so he kept his cool. Waiting… “But… I have to be honest with you. When he was close to me, when he touched me… It felt… Good.” She said it with so much disgust in her voice that Jon felt sorry for her, but he wasn’t able to keep a possessive growl from erupting. Her eyes flashed to him, tears were stinging her eyes, as she felt, like she was betraying him, and Jon instantly felt bad. “I’m sorry, Jon. I really am. Please, don’t hate me.” The last words were said in no more than a whisper, her eyes pleading, a tear running down her cheek. Jon sighed deeply, trying to calm both his mind and body, which wanted no more than to rip Caleb’s throat out. “I could never hate you, Leyla.” He got back up to his feet, walked to the bed and sunk down beside her. Pulling her to his chest, stroking her arm. She sniffled, but he could feel her calm down in his arms, her breath evening out. “All I need to know, is whether or not you want to stay with me.” he asked Leyla, whose gaze turned to his with so much warmth in her eyes, he felt a pang in his chest. “Always.” She said, kissing his chest, before she snuggled into him once again. “I want nothing to do with him.” Jon felt relief wash over his entire body. Hearing those words from her own lips was all he wanted to hear. That she still wanted to stay with him. They stayed like that for quite some time. Leyla almost fell asleep in his arms, enjoying his fingers gently stroking her skin, but was suddenly woken up, when Ben crashed through the door with a wide grin on his face. “Uff, I was lucky there. For a moment, I thought, you two were boning.” He said with such a cheeky smile, very much aware that they weren’t, but he couldn’t help but tease them a little. Leyla rolled her eyes at him. “Very mature, Ben. Come give me a hug.” Ben walked straight to Leyla’s side of the bed and grabbed her in a gentle hug, not wanting to hurt her. “You look like s**t, sis.” Leyla chuckled. “Well… Thank you very much. I worked hard for this look, you know.” Ben’s face turned a little more serious, though warmth was still the dominant emotion. “I’m sure you did, you f*****g badass. I’m really happy that you came back alive from that.” Leyla smiled at him, as she fell back into Jon’s arms once again. Jon kissed her on the top of her head, which made Ben pretend to gag. Jon shook his head. “How old were you again, Ben?” Ben grinned. “My mind is 12,” he said, almost proudly, which made both Jon and Leyla chuckle. “At least, your self-awareness isn’t missing.” Leyla said. “By the way, Jon, I cleaned up the mess you made in the living room. You’re very welcome, but you owe me dinner.” Jon made a face. “Thanks Ben. I’m sorry, I left that to you.” Leyla looked curiously at Ben. “What mess?” Ben’s smirk was evident. He loved ratting Jon out to her. “Oh well… When he found out about your new mate, he kind of thrashed the living room. Just a little bit.” Leyla scowled at Jon. “Seriously… Men,” she said, rolling her eyes, before she yawned heavily. Ben looked at her with so much love in his eyes. “I’m gonna leave you two love birds. No boning, until you’re fit for fight, Leyla. You should get some sleep.” Leyla nodded, and Ben went out the door with a wink. Jon shook his head once again, but he couldn’t help but smile. Ben always managed to lift the mood, wherever he went. It was a true gift, he got there. Jon stirred, as he wanted to leave Leyla, so she could rest, but Leyla grabbed him with her arms and burrowed her nose in his side. “No…” she said sternly, sounding like a child. “Please, stay. You can sleep here with me.” She was impossible to resist, so like always, he gave in, once again leaning back into the bed. She hummed in satisfaction, which sent a chill down his spine. God, she was so adorable. Jon stayed by her side the entire night. His presence made Leyla feel safe and warm, giving her a good night’s sleep. No nightmares, just peaceful rest.     _-..-_   Somewhere in a forest in Alleria. Caleb was sitting at the bonfire, looking into the flames, feeling the burning warmth on his front and the chill on his back. He was lost in thoughts. About her… He couldn’t forget about her. His mind always found a way to skip back to the overwhelming feeling that hit him, when they locked eyes for the first time. Her beautiful eyes… Her beautiful brown wolf, the sheer size of it. Her wolf was huge compared to any other females, strong. Her strength and her feistiness had made him want to f**k her right then and there. He had to admit though, the fact that she was able to resist him, when he turned full alpha, had aggravated him. She had to be a high ranked officer in her pack, the way she resisted him. How she had resisted their mating bond. He had wanted to break her spirit, to make her understand, that she belonged to him. He hated that he had to leave her behind, but he had only taken a very small part of his pack with him that day. They couldn’t fight off the entire search team. They had kept an eye on them. He had made sure that a wolf of his pack was following each team of theirs, though no contact was allowed. However, he would make sure that she would come back to him. He wanted her. He wanted her badly, and he was going to have her. No matter the costs, and he knew exactly, how to lure her out. A chill-inducing smirk formed on his lips. They were all so damn soft, and so was she. The way she had reacted to her friend’s death was proof of it. Luring her out would be child’s play. He stood up, emptying the beer in his hand, before he went to find a team, who could make his plan a reality.
