SINCE last night, Kairo has not uttered any words to her. She didn't want to talk about it first, which happened last night when he wasn't in the mood because their situation would only worsen. She was serious, but there were times when she was careless and talk to him about nonsense things. That’s the reason why he is getting annoyed fast.
After they had breakfast, she was no longer able to find him. Since she had nothing to do inside, she went out of Master Ali's wide house. She also wants to see other things from the past; that’s when she finds it outside. She covered her whole face except her eyes for not to see by the other men she meets.
When she came out, she was immediately greeted by people who were busy with their goods and daily activities. Master Ali's house is almost near the market or souk. Even though she did not understand their words, she ignored them.
In the near part in front of her, there are Master Ali's soldiers. She recognized them because of the white cotton scarf called keffiyeh with a round black agal on their head. Only those are the ones she sees wearing because the others are already different colors has on their head. Huh! She bent down her head and turned right. She just kept going until she passed through a wide and rocky ground.
From there, she could see a shepherd struggling to lift a sheep stuck in a rock. Oh, my god! She did not hesitate to help, and she hurriedly ran towards the shepherd.
"Hey! I'll help you!" She hurriedly pushed the stone stuck to the sheep.
"Shukran! Shukran! (Thanks! Thanks!)"
The tendons in her neck were almost out because she lifted the rock with all her might. The man moved quickly to grab the lamb's leg from the pinch.
"Ugghh! I-It’s... heavy!" At the same time, she let go of the rock when the man got the sheep.
"Shukran! Shukran! (Thanks! Thanks!)"
She glanced at the sheep with the bloody right foot, and it was screaming. She quickly removed her hijab from her head and tied it to the sheep's foot.
"Don't take the hijab off your head, Lady!" said the man.
Now she understands what he said, but she needs to be move quickly. "That doesn't matter anymore, Mister! The important thing is to save your sheep!" She tied the hijab to stop the bleeding. "Where are your house, and we need to treat your sheep! Maybe its leg is broken.”
"There!" He pointed it out to a hut on a high hill.
She winced when she saw the rock high hill, but the sheep needs their help. "Let's go!" she bravely said. She quickly lifted the sheep from the shepherd and run. She doesn’t know why is it she could carry the heavy sheep uphill.
She was followed by the man who was also stumbling while she didn't care if the lower end of her dress got torn. She is driven to save the sheep that is still screaming its wounds. However, it is difficult for her to climb the hill. She thoughts once life that begging for its life.
When she reached the top, there was a bamboo pallet there, put the sheep on it and exactly with the fabric well laid out in the bamboo bed.
"Lady!" said the man.
She glanced at him. His thick beard almost covered his whole face. The man was a little dirty, and his clothes were perforated. But that doesn't matter as long as they will do something about the throe sheep.
"I-I have herbal medicine inside!"
"Go ahead and get it!" she answered quickly.
The man hurried into his hut as she attended to the sheep. Later, the man returned with a bag.
"Here are my herbs. Do you know how to put this medicine or to heal my sheep?"
"No! But I will try. I'll try to save your sheep. I need anesthesia, needles, betadine, thread, and anti-inflammatory so we can prevent the bleeding and stitch its wounded right leg!" She doesn’t know where she drew her courage.
"Lady, I don't know if I could trust you, but these are the drugs!" He put it on a small table.
She was not aware of the medicines used in that era and could not choose because she couldn’t recognize some of them.
The man picks up the herbal medicine. "It's the herbal anesthetic. I'll grind it."
"O-Okay. Uhm, I need it." She took the needle and threaded. She also got other things she needed.
The man helps her to heal the sheep. She squeezed the anesthetic on the sheep's wound and then applied for medicine that, according to the man, slowed the bleeding.
"Hold on, and I'll sew up the wound," she commanded the man.
"Lady, the sheep has calmed down. My sheep is already dead."
They did not hear the sheep screaming by the time they put the medicine.
"No! It is not dead." Tears welled up in the corners of her eyes. She only strengthens her will to save the sheep's life.
"Lady, my sheep's eyes are closed!" The man's voice seems grueling.
She did not listen to what the man said and just kept doing. She did not want to look at the sheep as she began to sew its wound. If she can still see its eyes, maybe...maybe she can't handle it, and she would give up too. She is brave right now because she wanted someone’s life in danger. I know…I have no right to ask you this, but I beg you, please save this sheep. Save the life of the sheep in exchange for my life. It still has a lot to do in the world while I am…while I am just a burden to the people around me. Please, Stone Crystal. I am begging! Her tears welled up in the sheep's wounds as she still sewed it.
“Lady, my sheep have already died. Y-you can't do anything,” the man's voice thrilled as he spoke.
It was there that her tears flowed, and then she stopped sewing because the sheep was no longer moving, and when she glanced at it, she just burst into tears. She could not accept that its life was taken away. Her heart was pounding because that had happened to the sheep, and she could see herself in it. She again took hold of her necklace with her blood-stained right hand and pleaded. I beg you again to give it another chance. I'll be serious in my training and everything, I promise.
As she shed her tears on the dead sheep, the stone crystal she was holding suddenly glowed. She almost held her breath to see the blue light, and then someone urged her to put her hand on the sheep's wound.
The man was surprised at what he saw. "Lady… your necklace⸻is gleaming!"
Her hand covers with blue light coming from the stone crystal, and she put it to the sheep's wound. A few minutes later, she removed her hand, and again she and the man were so amazed that she was able to heal the sheep with the magical stone crystal on her neck. Sometime later, the sheep suddenly moved and moved quickly to stand up. The sheep approached her and licked her cheek.
“Hey! Your sheep is alive, Mister! ” There was so much pleasure on her face then she stroked the sheep's head.
The sheep also approached the man, and the sheep begged something. The man's face showed his joy that his only sheep had come back to its life.
It stood up. “Thank you, Miss! Thanks!”
She also stood up. "You're welcome. I'm glad to help, and… your sheep came back to life, Mister. ”
“Lady, are you a sorceress? How did you do that magic? ” he asked.
“I am not a sorceress or someone who has magic, but...I am carrying somethings magic which is my necklace. I am just a mortal traveler who came from another time. A creature that is cowardly, useless, weak, and ignorant of what the past has. I would love to change myself for my loved ones who may be suffering now because of the changing times, but here I am, nothing has changed. I'm still the woman I know even in a different body I had.” It was as if her heart wanted to explode with that emotion again. She remembered what happened to her and Kairo last night.
“You are not weak, cowardly, and useless. If the simple way you showed my sheep to prolong its life, that’s one of the big points that you are a brave and good woman. I admire your courage and concern, Lady. ”
She wiped her tears running down her cheeks again. "Thank you, and you believe in my ability."
“Believe and don't forget to call above. Earlier, while you were trying to revive my sheep, I just let it go and run freely in the wilderness, but when you cried, I realized that I should not give up on the people I gave trials to.”
"Given trials?" She stopped wiping away her tears.
"Yes."
She smells stinking. “What’s that smell? It smells like...”
The man smelled himself. “I'm the one you smell, Lady. I need to take a bath. ” He turns to get inside his house, but it just bumped into the pole. “Ouch!” It was held his head.
She quickly approached it. “Mister? Are you alright?"
“I'm just fine. It just stumbled.”
"Are you sure?" She stared at it intently, but she noticed something. She even waves her hand in front of him. "Mister, are you blind?"
“Huh? Ah…Yes!”
“Huh? Seriously? That's why you seem to stagger. I thought you were drunk, or just you are limping too. God, poor man! Come, and I will help you.”
“No. I can do it.”
“Oh no! Don't complain. Oh, wait! Let's tie up your sheep.”
“Leave it there. He already knows what he is doing.”
"Really?" She glanced at the sheep that was just there on one side and watched around. "Okay."
They had already entered the house as the sheep that was there in a corner suddenly transformed and became a magical person with dazzling light in his body. An angel with a long white dress, white gladiator sandals, with a ring floating on his head, curly hair, and above all his healthy wings. He makes a smile as he looks at them.
WENG stared at the blind man who was differently attached to her. She helped him bathe until he could get dressed, and he was not ashamed to do so. She felt she was relieved to be here for no apparent reason. She also trusted him, and she knew that it would not harm her even if it were an opponent who only pretended. But she didn't see anything dangerous like that in the man in front of her.
"Do you want me to cut your hair?"
"I do not want. Just let it⸻ ”
She came closer and took her hair tie, then tied it in the man’s hair. “Let’s not cut it. Maybe it would be better like this.” She was staring at him. "You look like someone I know. An actor, I guess."
“Actor? What is an actor?”
“Uhm, famous people of my era. Actors or models, something like that. Hmm…you look like that.” He just stared at it even more. “Right! You look like Can Yaman!”
“Huh? Who is Can Yaman?”
"Uhm, he is a Turkish actor and handsome!"
"Handsome?"
“Yes. But there is a problem.”
"What's the matter, Lady?"
“Those blind eyes you have. I guess I can fix that so you can take good care of your sheep. Let me take care of it.”
"I don’t understand you."
She put her palms to his eyes and covered. "May our Lord bless you and give me the ability to cure it so you can see the things surrounds you." She closed her eyes, then she felt from the depths of her heart and sought the white light. She meditated and searched for the connections of that light to find the blue light that came from the stone crystal. And when she found it, she embraced that light to coalesce the energy to her body down into her hands.
From the blue light of stone crystal, it flowed again towards her palms as what she did earlier in the sheep's resurrection. She felt that strong power, and when she removed the palms from the man's eyes, waking it up, she could see the light in his brown eyes.
The man stared at her as he slowly… smiled. A smile of success and gratitude that it has seen the true light of life.
