Chapter Eleven

1496 Words
Bren! My mother’s voice echoed in my brain, causing me to grab my head in pain at the loud noise.     Mom?! I responded, kind of yelling at her.     “Bren, are you okay?” Easton asked, looking at me in confusion and fear.     Bren, your father’s at the edge of the pack territory.     “Alpha!”  a voice calls out, but I ignore the conversations around me.     What?!  How do you know that?!     The same way that I always knew it was time to leave and move to the next place.     How did he find us so soon?     “Alpha, there’s been a rogue sighting at the edge of the pack’s territory.”     I don’t know, Bren, but he cannot find us and cannot find out about the baby.     Stay at home, Mom, and put a spell to hide you, the house, and your scent.  I’m going to the pack’s boundary.     Bren, no!  If he finds you--     He won’t, I reassure her.  I’ll only intervene if it’s necessary and I’ll hide myself and my scent in order to stay hidden.     Stay safe, Bren, my mother whispered, and she cut off the link.     “Bren!” a voice called out and I focused back on the conversation at hand.  Lucas stood in front of me trying to catch my attention.     “Lucas, he’s here,” I gasp, eyes wide in fear.     “Who’s here?” Easton asks.     “What?!” Lucas questions.     “I don’t know how, but he’s here.  He can’t know about me, my mother, or the baby,” I demand, grabbing his shoulders so he knows how serious I am.     “Who are you talking about?  Who’s baby?” Easton says, trying to get our attention.     “Bren, don’t worry.  My father and I will make sure nothing happens to you or your mother,” Lucas soothes, grabbing my wrists so I’d let go of my death grip on his shoulders.     “Someone answer me, now!” Easton orders, Alpha tone coloring his voice.     Lucas and I look over to Easton, seeming to remember that we weren’t alone.  My breathing is erratic, I’d never really imagined I’d come face to face with my father even though some part of me knew I’d eventually have to face him.  “Easton, I don’t have time to explain.  The rogue that’s at your pack line is someone very dangerous to my mother and I.”     “I’m not leaving here until you tell me what’s going on!” Easton yelled, Alpha power trying to get me to bend to his will.     I looked at him and I mean really looked at him.  His aura is a variety of colors, but the main one is royal blue meaning I could trust him.  However this is not the point in time in which I tell him my secret.  Not with my father literally knocking on our doors.  “Look, Easton, I would, but right now is not the time.  Can I ask you to just trust me on this?  If you protect my mother and I without knowing the entire truth, accepting the fact that Paul and Lucas know, then I will tell you the truth when we can and give us a chance?”     Easton froze, taking in my words as he took in my image.  I’m sure I look stressed, fear and anxiety evident on my features.  “You promise to let me in?”     “Yes, now please go!” I plead, and he turns to go.  “Lucas, go with him.  I’ll be following close behind you.”     “No, Bren!” Lucas argued.  “It’s too dangerous for you.”     “I’ll hide my scent and make myself invisible.  I’ll only reveal myself if there is no other way to defeat him.  I promise,” I plead again, looking at him.     “Okay, be safe,” Lucas agrees before sprinting off to join Easton.     Making sure no one else is around, I felt my powers jump at my command.  I hid my scent and created an invisible bubble around me.  After that was taken care of, I spread my silver wings and took off, following the scent of Lucas and Easton to know where on the border that my father was waiting.     I flew over a clearing to which I saw a bunch of shirtless males standing in so I circled around a couple times to find a branch to land on that would give me a good advantage.  Making sure I didn’t shake it too much, I retracted my wings but kept my bubble up and scent hidden.  I see Easton and Lucas walk into the clearing, both shirtless and wearing gym shorts.  I couldn’t seem to tear my eyes off of Easton and the way his muscles rippled with every step.  God, have you seen a better body than his?     Shaking my head, I remind myself to focus on the task at hand.  I see Easton’s father, Robert, and Paul standing in front of a man on his knees.  They wrapped his body in silver chains, the silver burning his skin and causing smoke to rise from the contact.  If it was any normal werewolf they would be screaming in pain, however because my father is from Lycan heritage, silver does not affect him as much.     “What are you doing here?” Robert’s voice booms throughout the clearing.     My father laughed, the maniacal laughter stinging my ears.  “You have no power over me, pup.”     “This is my pack,” Robert seethed, anger pulsating from him in waves.  “You’re in my land and you’re unwanted.  Answer my questions.”     My father smiled and I shifted on the branch to get a better look.  He was tall—but I think we established all werewolves are tall—fit, with brown hair that if was well kept would have looked luscious.  His beard is ragged, making him look so unkept and slightly crazy.  His green eyes were wide, never seeming to focus on one thing for too long before finding its next target.  He had dark circles under his eyes and his body seemed scraped up.  All in all he looked like a crazy man, his mind gone since all he could think about was the power that he lost.     “Why are you here?” Robert demanded again.     “I’m here for my mate,” my father sneered, eyes jumping from person to person.     “And who is your mate?” Paul asked.     “Kaida Risiss,” he answered, a smirk tugging on his lips.  Paul and Lucas tensed at the mention of my mother while Easton looked between the two while thankfully staying quiet.     “Kaida has a mate,” the Alpha states, narrowing his eyes at my father while motioning to Paul.     “Nonsense!” my father seethed, seeming to become even crazier at the mention of my mother taking on another mate.  “She is mine!”     My breath hitched at the sight in front of me.  He is clearly not in his right mind but his unpredictableness is what makes him so dangerous.  We could never know what he’s planning since it could change at any point.     “You need to leave here and never come back!” Robert boomed, causing everyone around him to flinch at his command.     “Your Alpha command does nothing to me!  I am from Lycan heritage, you should be groveling at my feet!” my father screeched, thrashing his head from side to side.  “She hasn’t told you what she is yet, has she?” He asked Paul.     Paul tensed but his face remained an emotionless mask.  Robert looked at Paul in confusion but decided not to press the issue right now.  “One last chance, pup, leave or else we’ll leave you to die in the dungeons.”     “It doesn’t matter now,” he chuckled, chains clinking from his body moving.  “I know where she is now.  It’s only a matter of time before I get her back again.”     Robert motioned to his men to drag him to the edge of the territory and remove the silver chains.  The men released him and my father turned back to look at the men before him.  “Just you wait, I’ll be coming back to claim what’s rightfully mine.”
