CHAPTER SIXTEEN (ANNA) I’ve called the ladies this morning and they’ve all decided to show up at the meeting very late just to delay the meeting today, it was both funny and interesting circumstance, since we are all going to meet today anyway. Having a feeling of being watch, I look around to see if everything is out of place but everything was fine, it’s still the same deserted road I like to pass through on my way to lectures, I love how quiet the environment is it helps me to think straight, the feeling of nature all around me also keeps me calm. Out of nowhere I was suddenly attack by six giant men, before I could react I was bond by silver string, as I struggle to get out of it one of them replied. “Don’t bother yourself lady, no one can get out of this string it was make with magical led years ago which make the most powerful useless against it, soon enough you will start feeling dizzy and eventually pass out, so don’t bother struggling, just follow us quietly and save your energy.” “Do you think that is possible, do you know who you are messing with.” “Of course the guardian lady, we know all about you which is what makes it easy to catch you.” “I don’t think you do, because if you do you won’t believe some strings can hold me down.” As I struggle against the string I feel drained and started getting dizzy, one of the men look at me with a smirk and respond, “Look at you getting all white, told you not to fight against it and just accept your fate.” As much as it pained me I think he has a point because I could see dark spot as I continue to struggled, the next thing I know I was on the ground, my last thought before I pass out was how to connect with Scott so he will know I was being abducted. I wish whatever signal I just send reach him. I woke up to an empty cell with a feeling of being drained. “What the hell is this place.” “The keep.” I turn to the direction of the opposite cell only to see nothing just darkness, “And you are.” “Brody, what about you. What are you that makes them interested in you.” “Anna, and am just a human.” “I don’t think so, you were dragged in with those led strings around you, no human got dragged in any of those.” “Really?” “Really, so what are you.” “Am a guardian, and you?” “Am a fire lynx.” “How did you get here?” “I was abducted like you, my clan was attacked, some were able to escape while others died, am the only one left out of the few of us that was brought here.” “What happen to them?” “I don’t know the details but I guess experiment gone wrong, that’s why they’ve been going easy on me so they don’t make the same mistake they did with the rest.” “Am sorry about your people, don’t worry we are getting out of here together, alive.” “I don’t think so, don’t you think I’ve tried, I’ve tried different ways to get out of here but none of them work.” “That was because you were working alone, now that am here we can work together to get out of here.” “You sure about that lassie.” I was startled by the voice, “I thought we were the only one here.” “Think again girl, you can only see what…few meters before you and you think you are the only one here.” I look in the direction of the shadow opposite me, “How many people are here.” “Maybe thirty or twenty, I don’t really know I kind of stop counting when only a few returned after being experimented on.” “Is it always dark in here?” “Not always, they will lift the shadow when they want to take anyone out or bring someone back in.” “How then have you tried to escape.” “When they lift the shadow to take one of us or two…it doesn’t really matter, but when they do those ones attack them and try to escape, some even try to escape in the experiment room but none have succeeded so far instead you only put yourself in more trouble.” “What kind of trouble.” “The usual, starvation, beating and the rest.” “You are quiet, are you in shock.” “No, just thinking, little shock me these days, I’ve seen a lot of things transpire that I don’t feel shock anymore when new things occur.” “Are you sure about that.” “Perfectly.” “Alright then, maybe you might get to stay alive longer than the last occupant of that cell you now occupy.” “I plan on staying alive for a very long time.” “We will see about that.” Just then the sound of a door opening cause me to stay at alert, then movement caught my attention just as the dark shadow in the room started to lift, I guess this means they are about to take someone out for experimenting. “You, come with us.” “Me?” I asked pointing at myself “Yes you, come with us,” one of the mage that came in said with a scowl. I get up as he moved closer to open my cell, he step to the side as I come out of my cell, I follow them through a narrow wall till we get to a room that look like a s*******r house, the room is something out of a nightmare, from the difference seven incubator line up on the wall that has different organs in them to the dried bones and shrunk human body stashed up in a heap in another corner and an electric machine that has a helmet on it, the whole thing was just so bizarre “Looking at my piece I see, this room and the next is compile of my achievement over the years, and I’ve made a lot of that. Am Dr. Joy and you are going to be my masterpiece of today although am ask not to push it too hard with you but am certain we are going to enjoy our session together since we have all the time we need.” “What are you planning on doing to me.” “Don’t worry dear am not going to hurt you am just going to break you,” he replied with a mischievous smile that gives me the creep. “Now to get started why don’t you sit over the chair over there,” he said pointing to the chair I saw earlier. “I don’t think so.” “Oh darling you are feisty what a shame that’s not going to work here, why don’t you make her sit,” he said to the men that escort me to the room, as they move closer I prepare myself for an attack instead they open their hand as blue lightning struck me, I was shock and writhing in pain. “Now where were we, oh yeah, you sitting now if you will be a gentleman carry her to the chair.” he said to my attacker. I was dump on the chair and the helmet was shove on my head, I was still in blinding pain as the doctor move closer to press some bottom on the helmet and turn on a switch beside the chair, the last thing I saw before I pass out due to the sudden pain was his toothish grin. The t*****e continues to take place every day with different experiment from taking my blood to them checking my psychic wave by shoving me in the chair with the helmet, I’ve been finding ways to leave this hell hole, so far that plan haven’t succeed. “Still there little human guardian,” Kev as I’ve come to know him shout out. “Yes, what do you want.” I replied grumpily. “Just checking if you’re still alive to stage another plan for escaping.” “Ahahahah, very funny.” I said sarcastically. “What else can you do in here than to pleasure yourself with little things till the day come where you won’t be able to come back from the experiment room.” I kept quiet thinking about home. Am sure everyone must have been doing all they can to get me out of here, I should have thrown all my stupid worries aside and say to hell with the curse and accept Scott when I has the chance, because I might not get the chance again. No, I have to remain strong till someone come for me, am certain Scott and the rest will find a way to get me out of here, and I promise myself once am out of here am accepting Scott as my mate, to hell with everything else. “What are you thinking about.” Louis another occupant opposite me asked. “Just home and some regrets I have.” “We all have that, but we only discover them when we are in difficult situation and we learn to accept them eventually when we know there’s nothing we can do about it.” “I will get a chance to correct them.” “There you go again about hope of escaping.” Kev said. “Must you always be negative, I will never lose hope, cause a lot of people are counting on me.” “Sorry to break it to you darling so far none of us has find a way and we’ve been here longer than you.” “Is there anything you’ve notice about the hallway we pass to the experiment room.” I asked Louis. “Nope, just that it’s colder than the other rooms.” “Exactly, do you think it has something to do with our location.” “I don’t really know; it could be the air conditioner or a walk in freezer is close by or something.” “I don’t think so, I’ve not seen any air conditioner and no sign of a storage room closer to the hallway.” “So what do you think it is.” “I don’t really know yet.” “Hey, guardian what do you call a human running down the street from a supernatural attacker.” “What?” I asked. “Fast food.” One of the other occupant replied. They all burst out laughing. “It’s good that you are all having fun,” I said pissed “Don’t take it too hard am just saying, instead of finding a way to run why don’t we attack them instead.” “What do you mean and how is it possible.” “Once the mage lift the shadow clouding the room and open the cell door the person just have to attack at the right time and throw the keys into any of the other cells and we will all take it from there.” “And how are we going to do that when they can struck us with lightning and none of our powers are working to fight against them.” “I think that has to do with whatever bullshit they are putting in our food, one or two of us just have to starve for a few days to get out whatever it is from our system and we will be able to have a little strength to fight.” Kev inputted. “How is that going to work when we are not sure our powers will work.” “I thought you said you used to be a good fighter without power, so how is that a problem, all you have to do is starve for a few days,” Kev responded. “What of strength, how will I have the strength to fight without sustenance.” “We will think about that.” “Why are you interested in escaping all of a sudden, I thought you want to spend the rest of your life in here.” “Just thought it will be fun to try something new together with all of you.” “Well, when you are done thinking let me know.” “Do you have a better idea other than waiting for your friends to come rescue you out, and when is that going to be after you are dead?” He kind of make a point “I think his plan can work if there’s a way you can survive without food for some days.” Brody said. With a sigh, I agreed with him, “So who is going to be the other person.” “Me of course, who else, it’s good to always be the doer of what you preach don’t you think?” he replied. “Ok, so when is this plan going to take effect.” “Soon but first sustenance, that’s important.” ************ After surviving on just water for five days it would be a complete lie if I said I’m up to the task of escaping us from here. “Anna, are you ready, today is the day.” Kev said. “Am as ready as I can be.” “Remember the plan?” “I do, don’t worry.” “Alright, they should be here any minute.” She heard the hisses that preceded the mage approach, she tensed and waited willing him to continue. When he stopped at her cell she sighed “Come with me.” The inmates all remain silent, she hesitated a little reviewing what they has told her about grabbing the keys, as she emerged both of them jumped as Kev smashed into his cell to distract the mage as she attempt to take the keys. The mage was a little buff, surely she should be able to knock him out with a punch, she balled up a fist and look at it wondering where to hit him, she wasn’t spending another day in this hell hole, never. Hands darted from the cells to swipe at them, as he reached the end of the cell she readied her fist. The mage opened the main door for her as he had before with magic, she waited for him to face her then punched him as hard as she could in the face, she shook her hand out. Everyone erupted into cheers, the mage didn’t fall to her feet unconsciously as she has planned but stare at her in surprise, she saw lightning forming in his hand. “Hit him again,” Kev yelled. “In the neck,” another seconded. She raised her fist to lay a right hook to his throat but she began to panic when the lighting grew bigger and brighter, he raise his hand to block, but she kicked him in the groin and then in the neck, he bent over coughing, she jerked the keys off his neck as the lighting flickered. The mage stretched for her but she moved away from him and the inmates continue to urge her to send the keys their way. She raised the keys to stare at it, the cacophony around her rising as the exited inmates glimpse their freedom, they begin to beat against the cell walls as she approached. She move to Kev cell. “Which of this is your cell key.” “I think it’s the Rusty silver one I’ve seen him use it a couple of times, we have to be fast before the others come to find him.” With that we rush to free him and the others out of the cells and throw the mage in one of the now vacant cells, we rush out through the corridor as we find our way, as we move closer to the door we hear sound of mage discussing we prepare ourselves for an attack as we bashed the door open but to our surprise we weren’t the only one preparing to attack another bunch of people came from another door as the join in the attack. “Who are they?” Brody asked. “I don’t know,” Kev replied. “It doesn’t matter as long as they are not attacking us and if they do afterwards, we should be prepare to fight them too,” I said. “You are right, for now the mage are our current enemy.” As we all try our best to overcome the mages with the help of the newcomers we were able to leave the room and find ourselves in another passage, we follow the newcomers as they lead the way, we pass from one passage to another till we reach the top of the roof of the building, what we see left us speechless, we are in the middle of the sea in nowhere with no visible house or road anywhere just expanse of sea. “How are we going to get out of here?” Brody muttered. “Wow, though I notice some part of the rooms and passage were cold but I never imagined this,” I said. “Don’t worry help is here,” one of the newcomers said. “Who are you people,” as he was about to answer a voice asked, “Is that the last of the experiment, make sure we take every one of them if not completely some part of it. I turn around to see Scott smiling “I couldn’t help myself as I run towards him in tears “I can’t believe you came for me.” “I will always come for you, am sorry it took long, it was hard finding the Intel to this place.” “But you did, that’s what matter, am so happy to see you, Where are the others.” “They are coming they are still at the West side of the building.” “Who would have thought the headquarters was actually under the sea.” I asked, “No wonder people don’t make it out alive.” “Anna!” I look up to Cassandra Coming towards me. “We missed you so much,” she said with a hug, “We keep praying you were still alive when we finally locate you. “Seriously, are you supposed to say such thing out.” Sasha reprimanded her. “Sasha, it’s so good to see you all again.” It’s good to see you too in one-piece baby, Maddox reply as we all go for a group hug. “So your people really come looking for you,” Kev said as he join us. I turn to face him with a smirk, “I told you they will. “Good, so how do we all get out of here.” “There is a ship at the other side,” Scott replied. “Am happy you are finally home Anna, this few weeks have taken a toll on everyone,” Mrs. Allen said. “Am sorry for making you worry about me.” “You don’t have to my dear, it’s not your fault you were taken. I’ve prepare your favorite dish. I will bring you your dinner.” “Thanks Mrs. Allen.” You are welcome my darling, just rest for today, tomorrow is another day and we can catch up.” “Alright.” Am exhausted after the stress of the day from the rescuing to telling everyone what goes on in the prison and accepting different visitors who came to see me, I was ready to turn in for the night. “Are you okay,” Scott asked “Am fine just tired.” “I get it, you have no idea how this few weeks has been for me with the knowledge that I might not get to see your face again it was hell.” “Am so sorry,” “You don’t have to, you didn’t ask to be abducted, am just happy we got you back.” “Me too.” “I don’t know what the future might hold but i want to make you mine Anna I can’t wait for another day or weeks, I really can’t, lose all connection with you, it was so difficult for me.” “I understand and I want that too.” “Are you sure,” he asked as he moved closer. “One hundred and ninety-nine percent sure.” “I love you.” “Love you too.”
