Perfect weekends was that they always ended— By Monday afternoon, dark clouds had gathered over Westwood High. Just as the final bell rang— the rain began. Not a drizzle. Not a light shower. A determined downpour. Students crowded beneath the front entrance, watching the parking lot disappear behind sheets of rain. Jason peeked outside. “I vote we build a boat.” Ryan adjusted his backpack. “I vote we wait five minutes.” Emily checked the weather on her phone. “It says the rain should slow down soon.” Jason looked disappointed. “So… no boat?” “Yeah. No boat.” Nearby, Lily stood by the doorway, watching the raindrops splash against the pavement. “I forgot my umbrella.” Before she could worry about it for long, Noah spoke. “I brought one.” She turned to him. “You did?”
