Wednesday morning began with an unexpected announcement from Mrs. Harper.
“I have something you might enjoy,” she said, placing a colorful poster on the board. “The library is hosting a month-long reading challenge. Students who complete it will receive certificates and a chance to recommend a new book for the school collection.”
Jason’s hand shot into the air.
“Does reading the back cover count?”
“No, Jason.”
“What about skimming?”
“No.”
Ryan looked over.
“I appreciate that you asked the important questions.”
Emily smiled.
“I think it sounds fun.”
When class ended, the five friends made their way to the library to look at the display.
A table near the entrance was stacked with books from every genre imaginable.
Mysteries.
Adventures.
Biographies.
Fantasy.
And classics.
