Chapter 37 Jacksonville, FL CHRISTMAS BRUNCH AT the Grove Park Inn was even better, and the food more plentiful, than Thanksgiving had been, if such a thing is possible. In addition, the hotel held an annual gingerbread house contest between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and the entries were on display in one of the large meeting rooms. We were absolutely amazed at what people had accomplished with gingerbread and frosting. As we’d done after the Thanksgiving buffet, we jogged up the mountain a few hours after we’d eaten. All good things must come to an end, and we were soon home where it was much warmer, and we settled back into our usual routines.
