He talked in a way that made everyone around him calm, a voice so soothing that I could close my eyes just so I could hear him talk for hours.
“Oh that’s very nice of you, I haven’t really needed anything since I came here, so I’m good on my path.” I replied sincerely, but realized shortly after that it was kind of rude to refuse an offer like that, even when I did not need anything. He already said that he did not want to come empty handed to see me and so refusing his offer to get me stuff would only mean that I did not appreciate his gifts.
“Oh” he replied little disappointed as I had thought, I knew I had to change my words
“But you can get me anything you want from the store though, surprise me or something.” I said again, making sure he does not feel bad for wanting to buy me stuf
