After leaving his mansion for several days, Alpha Evan went back to his city and
discovered that several of his household members were missing. Most significantly, his
companion Vera and the woman suffering from amnesia, Ezra, were also absent.
Rosetta was the little girl he purchased to free herself from slavery.
"Vera travelled to Venton City to find you." When he inquired about Vera and Ezra"s
whereabouts, Claus responded.
"They have been looking for you for the past month. I assumed you would return with
them. "Did you not notice them?" Willian also gave a response.
Evan quickly threw himself into the large white living room sofa in frustration. His sleek,
wavy hair fell to the back of his perfectly tailored black tuxedo, shining like silk in the
chandelier"s brilliant light. The room could sense his frustration.
When he went on a rescue mission in a secret military center, then he went into hiding
in another city, and anybody could tell how stressed up he was from returning from that
experience.
"Sir, their disappearance is hardly a reason for concern. The fact that they are not
present is even better news. We are facing more serious issues." Claus stated coolly,
pressing his glasses closer to his face.
"Explain what you mean." Distracted from his rage and thoughts, Alpha Evan replied.
"The secret powerhouses have been competing with one another for supreme authority
and importance in government since your departure. And Santos city officials approved
of that." Willian responded, and the men did the same, answering coolly and in a
guarded manner.
"Please just go straight to the point. I don’t have time for riddles.” Evan pinched the
bridge of his nose. “What transpired while I was away?" Evan questioned once more,
more perplexed than before.
Claus and Willian disclosed all the events that transpired during his absence. Following
the unsuccessful attempt by Evan to rescue Davis at the military base, the political
leaders of Santos City looked for additional weapons, armor, and troops. There was
only one place to turn for such political demands: the magically and immortally endowed
clandestine power families. They could visit the Alabaster or Montgomery families.
The political leaders did not bring Evan along this time. Naturally, nobody can trust the
powerful people in Santos City, but Evan"s presence always ensured that the deal would
never fall through. Because of his natural ability to absorb demon powers and employ
them against the evil they bring, Evan"s status as a cultivator might put a stop to any
problems that might arise from this pact. Without Evan, a transaction may be
troublesome, which is what it is right now.
"You mean that without my presence, Clark, the mayor of the city, went to make a deal
with those repulsive families?" Evan shot back, angry.
"They were actually waiting for your absence to present an opening. They have had
enough of you controlling them all the time." Claus answered.
"So tell me, what is this catastrophe you are referring to?" Looking somewhat
composed, Evan untied his tie and took off his tuxedo jacket to make himself more
comfortable.
Claus continued by describing how the Montgomery family amassed an army of a
thousand soldiers and magical weapons of all types. However, individuals from the
Alabaster family destroyed the guns at dusk, ruining the plans of the majority of the
Montgomery soldiers.
The mayor of the city received the Alabaster family"s warriors and weaponry the
following day. Since the Montgomery men and their weapons were missing, the mayor
had to accept it. And this led to a major conflict between the two enduring Mafia
factions.
"How about people? I hope there is no impact on them." Evan got up agitated and
asked.
I apologies, sir. Their impact is significant. Families with power describe it as victims of
circumstance or collateral damage. They do not give a damn about the dead humans."
Claus answered.
"Dead? How do you define "killed"? Are you claiming that people are dying?” Restlessly,
Evan inquired again.
"Sir, we are not even able to keep up with the number of people dying at this time. It
continues to rise every day." Willian answered back.
"How has the mayor addressed this?" Evan queried.
"He just ordered the police and military to stand by in case there are any threats to
human life. However, they are not taking many steps to safeguard our people.” Claus
answered.
"Sir, you are the only cultivator who possesses the ability to absorb demon forces and
use them against them. You alone has the ability to halt this threat." Willian added.
"But I need to locate Ezra and Vera. They might also be at risk." With a disappointed
expression on his face, Evan spoke.
“As we have stated, they are safer over there at Venton for the time being. For the time
being, Sir, you must put people above animals; else, everything your parents created
will be in vain." Willian gave Evan advice.
"So, any recommendations? How do I end this conflict inside of me?" Evan asked his
subordinates for their opinions.

Meanwhile, at the camp of Alabaster, Greg, the head of the Alabaster family, was
expressing his gratitude to his fighters for defeating the Montgomery family, as well as
securing a position in the political structure of the city at last.
"My brothers, it is a good day to be alive! Definitely a nice day. We have been hiding
from our adversaries, the sons of unbelievers who go by the name Montgomery, for a
very long time. Thank God for today! The table has finally turned, after they killed our
people and took over for so long." Greg said something aloud to the audience"s
applause.
"However, we should not rejoice just yet since we will not be able to relax until we have
eradicated the Montgomery people from the face of the planet. Get better ready for the
impending battle, then!" Greg went on.
They all went back into their rooms, cheering and chanting battle songs.
On the other side of the city were the Alabaster’s long time rival – the Montgomery
family. Vladimir and his men were grieving for the warriors who lost their lives in the
fight against the Alabaster family.
"They removed us from the mayor"s office first, and now this! This is not the last
chapter! At all costs, we have to get back at them!" Vladimir, rage and retaliation visible
in his eyes, spoke aloud. He talked in an effort to incite his warriors and give them
greater motivation to pursue their adversaries.
