It had been weeks since the come back of Evan.
Ezra and Vera were sighted having coffee at a restaurant in Venton. The day"s quest for
Alpha Evan had already worn them out.
"How could you have allowed a small-time burglar to steal our possessions the day we
moved in? We are unable to access our phones. What is the source of Evan"s return to
Santos?” Vera talked to a disorganized Ezra as she attempted to pack her bag.
"I apologize sincerely... I had no idea this city was home to small-time thieves. Maybe
we can acquire some information if we speak with Santos on a landline." Ezra
answered.
"Do you occasionally hear yourself speaking? Alright, so we should just head to a phone
booth, pick up any number, and presto! Anyone at Santos might provide us with reliable
information regarding Evan." Vera expressed her displeasure at Ezra"s
recommendation.
"Do not worry, we can contact these call lines from Santos," Ezra disclosed.
"All right, let us give it a go." Vera stated. Both of them set down their partially
consumed coffee and left the eatery.
They were wearing long, heavy jackets to protect themselves from the cold because the
day was snowing. Vera had shorter, silkier black hair that similarly flowed to the back of
her suit, while Ezra"s was longer and blonder. They were both dressed in jeans and
boots.
Ezra picked up the phone at the phone booth and tried to call a line. But, it failed to pass
on the first attempt. She gave it another go, but nobody picked up. By now Vera was
starting to lose her patience once more.
"But hold on, who are you calling? Whose line is that, exactly?" Vera enquired.
“It is an assistance line for a hospital.” Ezra answered.
"Infirmary! Similar to a hospital." Vera let out a disappointed yell.
"How in the world could we benefit from a Santos hospital? Like, sometimes I truly want
to know how you think." Vera went on.
"Can you-”
“Someone has already responded." Ezra cut Vera off abruptly. As they listened to the
voice on the phone, they both remained silent.
"Do you have an emergency?" The voice on the other end asked calmly. Over the
phone, the correspondent responded.
"I am... I am..."
"Hello, I am Vera, Alpha Evan"s closest pal. Could you please check if Alpha Evan has
returned to Santos?" Vera cut Ezra off so she could react to the correspondent because
he stammered like a little child.
"Madam, are you in need of help right now? Or would you rather talk to someone?”
“We genuinely do not have an emergency, I apologize, ma"am. Just wondering if you
have any updates on Alpha Evan; any details would be greatly appreciated." This time,
Vera answered with more grace.
"We only get calls for emergencies and health-related matters, ma"am. I apologize,
ma"am, but the police are the appropriate authorities to contact if you are seeking for a
missing person. Greetings, ma"am."
"No, hold on. Hold on!"
The call stopped abruptly, and Vera shouted.
They stared at each other, unable to express their disappointment, but Ezra could see
how loudly Vera was upset with her.
All of a sudden, there was a call. Vera was quicker than him as they both ran to take it
up.
"Hi there! This is Vera. Who is in attendance?" Vera enquired.
"I was right to assume it would be you." The reply from the correspondent was that they
recognized the manly voice immediately.
"Claus?!" Vera quickly established who that person was.
“Yes, that is me.”
"What are you doing at the help desk of a hospital?" Vera had no choice but to inquire
since she was so perplexed. Ezra moved in closer to hear them out.
"At this point, it is not significant. It would be best if you delayed returning to Santos until
the conflict has been resolved. I called back because of this." Claus disclosed.
"What took place? Why is there a war?" Vera enquired.
"The Alabaster family is destroying and killing every barrier in their path to seize control
of Santos City. They did not even spare the Montgomery family." Claus opened up, and
Ezra"s attitude turned immediately to one of resentment. Vera observed something, but
she ignored it.
"How about Evan? Has he made a comeback yet?” Vera enquired.
“That is the main cause of my hospitalization. Evan suffered numerous injuries in the
process of protecting the city, but he is not alone. Would you kindly not return here?"
Claus said, cutting the call short right away.
"I will go to Alpha Evan, no matter how long it takes. You can remain behind for your
safety, Ezra." Vera addressed Ezra.
"Neither am I staying. Actually, I am going with you; you should really remain behind to
ensure your protection." Ezra answered, still acting resentfully.
"What are you trying to say? Why do you have that look on your face? Why are you
being so agitated? It is not like you have any options." With a patronizing expression,
Vera spoke.
"I am the person who can put an end to this war. In reality, it is time for me to take back
what is truly mine and prove that I deserve this position." Ezra stated, appearing quite
determined as she left the booth. Vera followed her, her expression bewildered.
"Stop it! What is wrong with you? Ezra, you are acting strangely." Vera scolded Ezra for
moving too quickly.

Alpha Evan was moaning in agonizing pain at Santos. His body was bruised and hurt
from the attack he took while trying to stop the Montgomery and the Alabaster from
hurting the Santos City human faction. He had numerous injuries all over his body and
wore a green patient rope.
He tried to stand up right away, but Claus halted him in his tracks and promptly pushed
him back onto the sick bed. Evan begrudgingly obeyed, grumbling under his breath.
“By mere act of Fate, I was with the nurse when Vera called to inquire about your
condition. I called her back right away to tell her not to come again. You can be
confident that they will not be returning for the time being." Claus said, fixing his glasses
properly by pressing them against his face.
"How about the faction of humans?" Evan questioned in a tremulous tone.
"The mayor has sent out another batch of untrustworthy cops to the human group, as
usual." Claus answered, "At this point, all we can hope for is a miracle or a
superhuman; otherwise, we are all screwed since the Alabaster family is not going to
back down anytime soon." Claus disclosed.
