Chapter Four ~ Perspective

Dragon woke up at two in the morning kissed my forehead and quietly walked downstairs to make himself hot tea as he noticed Hercules in the dining room with scattered paperwork with his work laptop and coffee pot on the table.

“Do not mind me, man.” Hercules eyes glued on the screen as he sipped his coffee. Who knows how many cups of coffee he drank for hours.

“How long have you been up?” Dragon asked.

“Ten hours.” He answered.

“s**t, man. So… how are you doing on the killer flock case?” Dragon asked as he sat next to him.

“The case is difficult. I knew the facial and hair of the woman who turned into a killer flock.” Hercules scrolls into her information.

“What does that mean?” Dragon asked.

“I found out that she was my sister, Larissa. I have not seen her in eight years. I’m not ready to say anything to Seika yet. I do not know how to talk to her about it. Especially when she kept on getting mad at me constantly for not spending time with her and our child. Seika and our child are still sleeping at Miza and Naki’s house.” Hercules expressed with tears.

“Can I say something about you and Seika?” Dragon asked.

“Sure.” Hercules stopped doing his work and listened.

“We heard both sides. Viola and I understand things are not easy with your relationship, work, childcare, household responsibilities, bills, and summoned to do the investigation. Having multiple stressors are not easy but I believe you two need to set a balance. From a medical standpoint, I think she might be struggling with postpartum depression, but it still not right of her to react violently by destroying s**t in the house and lashing out at everyone. If my fiancé Viola reacted that way, first I would calmly walk her outside and I tell her to cool off like “Hey honey, go walk in the forest! Scream at a tree, use that sexy kagune to chop for more firewood in the forest, or throw rocks in the lake. Whatever helps you to release your raw emotions out in woods alone. Do not lash out at everyone. Do not break s**t in this house.” After both of us are calm, we are going to walk and talk privately together in peace outside with nobody around. For example, I would do this with her, “Honey, I know you are angry, but the way you reacted was not acceptable. It’s okay to be upset, but it’s does not give you the right to lash out at everyone or break things. Why did you react this way? What caused you to blow up? Are you going to pay for the repairs on the wall? Are you willing to take accountability, be sincere, and apologize? Let’s figure out how we can correct this behavior together.” Look Hercules, I understand your still upset by Seika’s behavior. I would be taken back if my fiancé reacted in that kind of way in our relationship too. But there are healthy ways how to solve these issues together. Dude, throwing tantrums, screaming at each other, holding grudges, and damaging property is not going to get you all anywhere in life. Your feelings are valid but it’s not healthy to hold grudges against each other.” Dragon gave his input about their situation.

“You do have a valid point. I do need to hear that.” Hercules took a deep breath.

“If you are angry and you need to punch something, go outside, scream in the forest, lash out at a tree, or beat on something materially outdoors like throw rocks on breaking ice on the lake. Something to help unleash that anger out of your system naturally. But do that alone with no one around you.” Dragon said with a small laugh.

“I’ll make sure to keep that in mind.” Hercules smirked.

“I know it’s a lot to take in. I’m willing to support our people. Maybe counseling for couples might help. You do not have to be legally married to go into marriage counseling. They can help all couples no matter what legal relationship status you have. You and Seika can always to the Aogiri Tree ritual temple to do spiritual healing together. I do advice you and Seika need to have a private conversation as calm civil adults if she is willing to admit where she went wrong, be sincere, and apologize for her actions towards you as well. It is a two-way street. Viola and I understand what it is like to be in your guy's shoes in similar situations. There are times after our arguments we both laughed at each other like ‘oh my lord what has gotten into us here.’ Then we move forward by starting everyday as a new day making love and enjoying our favorite hobbies together.” Dragon suggested.

“It’s been a while since we went to therapy. Seika does need to see her therapist and Dr. Kimi again. But I will admit that I was not good at understanding women.” Hercules said.

“You as a father need to put your child first. But you as a supportive boyfriend now have the opportunity to nurture your girlfriend. She also needs to nurture you, too. Like I said, it’s a two-way street. Both couples do nurture each other. I understand Seika might be long term fixture in your life. I know both you can make it through these bumps on the roads especially for your child. You both need to be strong for your child.” Dragon said as he sipped his tea.

“I am still learning about her. We’ve been together for almost two years now. We do need to do what is best for each other and our child.” Hercules nodded with agreement.

“My advice for men. This is for both of us men, too. Let's be a little more forgiving to our girlfriends, fiancés, and wives. Especially being a Sawyer survivor. According to every woman I talked to in the past in support groups, they know what it is like growing up with that mindset where they’ve hated themselves, felt unworthy, and told that they were not good enough to do anything in life because of the way society has pressured young girls and women to do things to please men. There were women who grew up in abusive neglectful situations, absent parents, toxic relationships, and treated like s****l objects. We need to learn not to judge too quick without knowing their situations, past life, and medical conditions.” Dragon said truthfully.

“I appreciate the wisdom.” Hercules thanked him.

“Anytime. Are you going to see Larissa on visitation hours?” Dragon asked.

“I don’t know if she’s going to remember me. I really hope she will come back into her sense.” Hercules starred at his coffee.

“Hang in there, brother. Try to get some sleep when you are finish with the task.” Dragon patted his back as he finished his medicine and walked upstairs back to bed.

I slightly felt him moving under the covers as he wrapped his arms around my body and kissed my cheek. We fell asleep to the snowy winds blowing outside. Hopefully tomorrow should not be that bad outside.
