I press my hand to my stomach and breathe slowly, whispering apologies I don’t even know who they’re for. To the life inside me. To myself. To the truth I keep burying deeper with every passing day.
Because I’m not just scared of what will happen when they find out, I’m terrified of what I’ll lose when I finally say it out loud.

Tumingin ako sa kanya, ngunit mabilis itong nag-iwas ng tingin. “Ngayon ba dapat matapos?”
“Oo eh,” sagot niya. “Kasi magse-second phase na tayo. Monitoring,” aniya. “Balik na po ako ah? Magpapack pa kasi ng biscuits at drinks.”
