I stood up from my desk. “We’re done.” I dismissed her. She seemed like she was about to say something else. I glared at her, wanting to be alone. It was my first day back at work and seeing Joshua at rehearsal had rattled me. All I could think about was escaping. I sat and put my face in my hands. The door opened and shut quietly, and I heard the sound of footsteps coming toward me instead of leaving as I had asked her to do. I sighed, not wanting to confront her.
