27 Serge “So I did it. I finally got tested, Aunt Svetta.” Her doe eyes met mine, and I felt a tiny squeeze of her fingers in my hand. It had taken me the entire three weeks to get up the courage to tell her about it. I think she understood what I had said, but since she couldn’t speak anymore, it was hard to tell. Then I noticed a tear sliding down her cheek. I crossed the room and picked up a box of tissues, then carefully dabbed her tears away. Her arms flailed for a moment, and then she settled down.
