The devil is real.
He isn’t a little red man with sharp, pointy horns.
He’s handsome. Strong. His aura screams power.
He wasn’t always a devil, he’s just a fallen angel. Except this fallen angel fell beyond the earth and straight through to hell.

“You will sit there until you sign the damn contract.”
How did it I get here? How did my life come to this? Isn’t your mate meant to be loving, aren’t they meant to be everything you ever dreamed of? Yet mine is hell. Hell in the form of an Alpha grade A asshole. What kind of bullshit is that!
“Just let me go. Let me move on with my life.” I argued my point.
“Peyton. You’re testing my patience.” He gripped the bridge of his nose in frustration.
I know I was pushing it and he could seriously hurt me but sighing this contract is the same as making a deal with the devil.. and that territory I wanted to leave unscathed.
“SIGN IT!” He yelled making my body jump and my heart pound, fright took over my movements and signed the contract.
“See wasn’t that hard was it?” His tone velvety smooth as his breathed behind me and into my ear sending goose bumps coursing up my arms and chills down my back.
“We’re going to have so much fun.”

“Peyton!” Amira sang as she swung open our dorm room door and pranced in flopping her body on the bed.
“You’re not ready yet?” Her arm holding her head up as she looked at my towel covered body.
“Mi, it takes me 5 minutes to get ready.. unlike you.” I scoff back at her.
Amira was my best friend and room mate, we both attended a prestigious college for werewolves only.. Grand Falls College. We were both currently seniors and being in our last year was obviously so stressful! But she made it all worth it, we had been best friends since we met in kindergarten and have been attached at the hip ever since. She truly was the Stitch to my Lilo, and like stitch she was reckless, wild and had a very short fuse, unlike me who was quiet, none confrontational and very shy. If I had to stand up for myself I would but I mostly try to avoid those situations.
Since we both turned 18 within the last couple of months of each other Amira couldn’t wait to find her mate, someone to calm her down and keep her grounded, she loved love, where as me? Well I had no interest in finding my mate, I wanted a drama free life as a pack doctor and nothing would stop me doing otherwise. I was completely career focused and always ahead on my studies. Don’t get me wrong I’m not a nerd and I love to party to let some steam off but I also knew there was more to life than college partying and drinking all day, everyday and night.
I headed over to the wardrobe and pulled out a black pair of ripped skinny jeans paired with a white, off the shoulder, cardigan like crop jumper and a simple pair of black strapped heels that showed off my newly pedicured toes. My platinum blonde hair flowed down my back stopping just above my ass in soft loose waves.
“Do I even have to go tonight? It’s not like anyone’s going to miss me if I’m not.” I groaned as I put my hooped earrings in.
“Yes! I need you there and if you’re not I might just die.” Her over exaggerating as she falls back onto the bed with the back of her hand on her forehead as she mocked fainting.
I shot her a eye roll before heading over to the body length mirror checking to see if I looked alright.
“You look gorgeous. Now come on get that toned ass moving!” She said as she tugged at my arm pulling me out the dorm room.
As we stroll along the campus under the moonlit sky we headed out the main gates and down the street to our friends frat house where the party was taking place. Amira knew I hated going to frat house parties as the majority of them were unmated, wrong thinking wolves with their uncomfortable, lustful gazes and none stop pestering.
After a 10 minute walk we finally arrived, people swarmed the garden, drinks in hand and dancing like nobodies business, the music was blaring and as soon as we entered the garden gates multiple eyes fell on us. One guy whistled before getting a forceful slap from the girl I assume he was hitting on, another one shouted what he thought was a compliment then another slid in front of us blocking us entering the house.
“A kiss per entry girls.” He chuckled.
“As if. Move asshole.” Amira scoffed as she pushed him out the way.
“It wasn’t you I was after.” He grabbed my wrist and tried pulling me back to him.
The scent of stale booze and I’m guessing some kind of vaping flavour came off his breath, but then another scent hit me, something so sweet and incredibly enticing. Chocolate cake?
That’s when I felt a large hand rip the guys hand off my wrist and replaced it with his own.
‘Mine.’ My wolf Lexi excitedly said in my head.
“Touch her again and I’ll break every one of your fingers.” My saviour warned him.
I stared up at him in awe. Allowing his scent to consume me and take me to a place I’ve never been emotionally or physically before.
Was my wolf right, was this my mate?
“Sorry man I didn’t know she had a mate.” The guy held his hands up in surrender and backed off into the house.
“Peyton, are you okay?” I heard Amira as she took me in by my shoulders and hugged me tight, ignoring the fact my wrist was still being held by this random, handsome stranger.
He turns to face me after he had glared at the guy all the way into the house. His light shade of brown eyes sparkled under the artificial lights that surrounded us, his dark brown hair tamed back into messy tussles, his bulging arms pressed against his black leather jacket and his hard, toned torso clung against his white T-shirt. His tanned skin was a shade darker than mine and his jaw was sharp. He was so handsome words couldn’t describe.
“I should of ripped that guys throat out.” He muttered under his breath.
“Sorry?” I ask him quietly, scared of his reaction.
He locked his eyes on to mine before leaving them to take in my appearance from my hair and face to my body and choice of outfit.
“You shouldn’t be showing so much skin. It stops incidents like such happening.” His tone dripped in distain.
I snatched my wrist from his grip and watched as his eyebrows furrowed into a look of death.
“And who the hell are you to tell me what to wear?!” I barked at him obviously offended.
“I think you know the answer to that, princess.” He replied smugly.
I crossed my arms over my chest and shot him a death glare. No way is this my mate. This arrogant, smug and handsome asshole.
“Peys? What’s he talking about?” Amira hesitantly asked me.
“Nothing, come on we’re missing the party.” I said never taking my eyes off his as I push Amira to the front door of the frat house.
“You can run but you can’t hide, cupcake.” He called after me before laughing.
We entered the frat house and I let out a deep breath I didn’t know I was holding. My mind was fuzzing and my wolf was screaming at me to go back to him and bite his full, luscious lips.
‘Go back and get him! He’s our mate!’ She yelped.
I shut her out as I really didn’t wanna argue with her. I just wanted a good night out and to forget this encounter ever happened.
“Are you going to tell me what happened back there?” Amira stared at me with worry filled eyes.
“Later.” I quickly reply before scanning the rooms to find out where Kade was, when I finally spotted him he spotted me too and waved me over with a massive grin on his face.
I dragged Amira through the drunk and dancing crowd to where he was and he pulled me in for a massive hug.
“What took you guys so long? The party’s been popping for hours now.” He loudly spoke over the blasting music.
“You know how it is when Peyton gets ready. She takes the piss.” Amira laughed at my expense.
“Of course. Should of guessed.” He laughed giving me a cheeky wink.
The party was all fun and laughs at first but after a few drinks and a now pounding head I went in search for Amira who snuck off with some guy she just met. I walked into the back garden and walked round the pool to see if I could find her but no luck.
“Looking for someone, cupcake.” I heard a familiar voice.
I turned on my heel to come face to face with my earlier on smug saviour. He had a sexy smirk plastered on his face, his hands in his jeans pocket and his eyes scanning my body up and down.
“Not you.” I scoff as I go to walk past him where he yet again grabs me by my wrist and pulls me back.
“Not so fast.” He said still wearing his smirk.
“Let me go, now.” I warned him as I tried to yank my arm back but I wasn’t strong enough.
“What’s your rush? Don’t you want to get to know your mate?”
“No, no interested at all. In fact I’m planning on rejecting you. Hard.” I sneer at him.
“I don’t think so.” His voice was low and smooth.
God why did the moon goddess insist on playing a cruel joke on me? Was it really necessary? I never wanted a mate, so she chucks an arrogant asshole my way? Thanks. Thanks a lot.
“Well I do. Goodnight.” I sternly tell him before yanking my wrist out of his grip again.
I storm off but he’s in close pursuit after me.
“Why you running for?” He said through a light laugh. Clearly enjoying seeing me agitated.
“Leave me alone.” I hum to him still walking away from him.
“You know I can’t do that.”
I spun around in irritation and stared him down.
“Listen. I don’t want a mate. I don’t need a mate and I certainly don’t want you for a mate. So next full moon I’m rejecting you. Like it not. Understand?” I warned him but that damn sexy smirk still resided on his face.
I walked away from him without another word and continued to search for Amira, I walked through the glass doors into the kitchen, dodging people that were scattered everywhere, walking past the ping pong table were a game was in progress but that f*****g scent of my ‘mate’ followed me telling me he was still in pursuit of me. I exited the kitchen and into a long hallway that lead to where the party was in full swing when I felt yet another large hand pull on my arm and push me against the wall.
Him.
He put his hands either side of my head and rested them against the wall trapping me in his embrace. He towered over me, he must of at least been 6ft tall against my small 5ft4 frame.
“Must you make this so difficult?” He whispered so only I could hear him.
“I never wanted a mate either.. until I knew it was you.”
I gulped down a lump that had formed in my throat.
“See princess, the spark between us is undeniably strong.”
My heart began to rapidly face and my breath turned heavy. Just I was about to say something I heard a familiar voice bringing me back to reality.
“Everything okay here, Peys?” Kade said looking at mine and my mates current stance.
“Ye- yes everything is fine thanks, Kade.” I stammered breathlessly.
“Yeah Kade, everything is fine here. Move along.” Smirked my mate.
“Eli..” Kade had greeted him in a low, warning tone.
I limboed under his arm and stood beside Kade.
“You two know each other?” I asked confused.
“Eli Falco, the future Alpha of Gold Dynasty. Kade’s pack.” my mate said tone dripped in condescension as his hand ran through his full head of hair.
“And I don’t take too kindly to being interrupted whilst talking to my mate.”
Kade’s eyes widened in utter shock.
“Mate? He’s your mate?” He asked me his face was confused and he was absolutely dumbfounded.
“For now.” I snapped staring at my mate.
“Kade if you’ll please. Leave.” Eli used his alpha aura and Kade had no choice but to submit and left us alone but not before giving me a reassuring look, I nodded to let him know it was okay.
“Was that necessary? Did you really have to use that alpha power s**t to make him leave?!” I scored him.
“Now princess. Your public display of displeasure is a real heart stinger, I suggest you stop or I’ll have to use that ‘power s**t’ on you.”
“In your dreams, Alpha.” I spat.
I turned away and walked off from him leaving his beautiful self stood there, smirking at me like something was funny.
“Until next time, cupcake.” He called after me before laughing to himself.
Until next time my ass.
