Making Alliances Part 2

1300 Words
Ryker's expression turns thoughtful, clearly intrigued by Freya's mysterious abilities and the selective nature of her gift. Freya sees Ryker's thoughtful look, she continues, "Magic is its own boss. I don't have control over whom the magic deems fit. I can simply offer everyone a chance to receive it and see if it takes." Ryker nods slowly, seeming to accept Freya's explanation, and asks, "And if the magic decides to gift one of the other pack's members with an elemental ability, do you think that would be enough to sway them to join our alliance?" Everyone in the room nods their heads. "That might be enough to sway all three of the packs at once!" Thane exclaimed, pride swelling inside him at his mate's brilliance. Thane's pride in Freya's suggestion seems well-founded, given the potential benefits of offering the other packs' warriors a chance to gain elemental abilities, which could indeed sway all three packs to join the alliance. With a plan firmly in place, Thane starts a video conference with all three packs. All three Alphas and their Betas and Gammas appeared on the screens. All three Alphas and their Betas and Gammas gaze back at Thane and the others, their expressions varying from curious to skeptical, as they await Thane's proposal. "Good morning Alphas. I've called you all here today to bring a serious threat to all the werewolf kind to your attention," Thane began. Thane pauses, surveying each Alpha's reaction, before diving into the details of the threat posed by Malaki. Before he could continue, Alpha Aurora Blaze of the Ember Pack interrupted and asked, "Alpha Thane, who's the young woman with you?" Thane smiled brightly and said, "I'm sorry, where are my manners. This is my fated Mate and Luna, Freya, Norse Goddess of Love and Magic." The image of Freya sitting beside Thane, with a gentle smile and an air of quiet confidence, immediately captures the attention of Alpha Aurora and the others, who seem intrigued by Thane's introduction of his mate. Aurora, being the only female Alpha, is happy to see another woman in the group. The other Alphas don't allow their mates to participate in meetings very often, but Thane was different. He believed in equality and would always include his fated mate in everything. Aurora's demeanor subtly shifts, her expression warming towards Freya, as she senses a kinship with another powerful female presence, while the other Alphas appear to regard Freya with a mixture of curiosity and caution. Thane continues explaining the situation with Malaki. "Malaki is the God of Nightmares and is threatening the balance and werewolf kind." Alpha Maverick Steel of the Iron Pack asks, "What caused him to suddenly turn his gaze on us?" Thane cleared his throat, but it was Freya who answered, "That would be because of me I'm afraid Alpha Maverick. My father and Malaki's father were at war with each other, and to end that war they came up with a truce. My hand in marriage to Malaki to stop the war. Fortunately, both our fathers were impatient and ended up killing each other before the marriage could happen. Malaki, however, didn't care and tried to force me to marry him anyway. Malaki killed all of my people in order to get me to submit to him. I protected them as best I could by myself, but I was only one God. They never stood a chance against him because they were all human. The other Gods had no idea of it until it was too late. Malaki is on the run from them and figured if he could just marry me he would be safe to come out of hiding. That's when Thane and his pack came upon the marriage ritual. They were taking a run in the forest as a pack and heard the chanting. Malaki got distracted and that's when I ran and found Thane and his pack. Thane stood up to Malaki. Thankfully, it was a full moon, and they were all recharged by the Moon Goddess. Thane was stronger and took Malaki by surprise. Malaki knew that he couldn't go up against all the pack members that were with him, all by himself. He retreated in a puff of black smoke that smelled of rotten meat, but not before threatening the pack. He won't stop with just the Lunar Pack, he will continue until all the werewolves are eliminated." Alpha Maverick's expression darkens, his eyes narrowing as he processes Freya's revelation, while Alpha Kale, usually Stoic, let's slip a faint scowl indicating his disapproval of Malaki's actions. The grave faces of the Alphas reflect their understanding of the gravity of the situation, as Alpha Maverick leans forward, his voice firm, and asks, "What makes you think Malaki will stop at nothing to destroy all werewolves?" Thane speaks up and says, "Because he wants Freya as his own, and Freya is my fated mate. He now sees all werewolves as enemies because of it." Alpha Kale Darkshadow of the Raven Pack huffed, "That's just great. What was the Moon Goddess thinking of mating you two together?" Freya frowned and said, "Actually, I don't think it has to do with the fact that Thane and I are fated. He may be coming after all of you because of it now, but I believe he's been planning on controlling everything. Gods, Supernatural Creatures, and Humans. He knows he can't defeat the Gods with just his demon army, but if he could control the supernatural and humans, he could, and take over the entire world." Alpha Maverick's gaze intensified, his voice low and calculating, "So Malaki's ultimate goal is domination over all realms, using the werewolf packs as a catalyst for his power grab?" Freya nods her head, "Yes, But before you decide to say no to helping us, I have an offer for each of you." The Alphas exchanged skeptical glances, their faces neutral, awaiting Freya's proposal, as Alpha Aurora leans forward, her curiosity evident. Freya takes a deep breath, finds Thane's hand and holds on to it tightly before saying, "I have the ability to give out elemental gifts to the warriors. I don't control who the magic deems worthy of a gift, but if they are lucky enough to get one, I will train them how to control the gift given to each of them. If the gift doesn't take, don't be upset. Like I said, I have no control over who gets one and who doesn't the magic does. If it doesn't take, nothing will change for the warrior." Alpha Maverick's eyes light up with interest, his voice measured, "And what exactly do you propose in return for granting these elemental gifts?" Freya looks at the faces of all Three Alphas and says, "An alliance with each of you to defeat Malali. I will also be calling in the aid of the other Gods to help as well." The Alphas seem to be weighing their options carefully, Alpha Aurora's expression a mixture of hope and caution, while Alpha Maverick's face is a mask of calm consideration, and Alpha Kale's eyes narrow slightly as he deliberates. Thane sees Kale's expression and asks, "What troubles you, Alpha Kale? Is there anything else we can do to put your mind at ease?" Alpha Kale's eyes flicker towards Thane, his brow furrowed in concern, as he responds, "It's the element of unpredictability, Alpha Thane. We're dealing with Gods and elemental gifts - how can we trust that Freya's magic won't turn on us?" Freya smiles reassuringly and says, "There are two kinds of magic, Alpha Kale. There's Dark Magic and Light Magic. Dark Magic is wild and unpredictable and can turn on you. Light Magic works with the host and keeps balance with nature."
