The mystical forest is sroude4d in mist, the trees towering above us like sentinels. The air is thick with the scent of damp earth and decaying leaves. As they step deeper into the forest, the sound of softly chanting voices grows louder. As the Lunar Pack gets closer to the location of the chanting, Thane's wolf Lunar starts to pace inside Thane's head. Ignoring Lunar's pacing, he continues forward. That's when he hears a young woman's protests saying "I don't want any part in this! I would rather die than be married to you Malaki!" The voice sent a shiver down Thane's spine, and he could feel Lunar's agitation intensify. Sensing the distress in the woman's words, he quickened his pace, his eyes scanning the surroundings for any sign of the chanting. He hears Malaki say "You have no choice, Freya. You will be my wife!" Thane's grip on his thoughts falters, and Lunar bursts forth, reacting to the negative tone in Malaki's voice. Thane struggles to regain control, but his wolf's fury resonates deeply, fueling his own anger towards Malaki's brutal words. The rest of the pack members that were with Thane also shifted and followed after Thane. Before Thane could locate Malaki to rip him apart because of his brutal words, a woman came running in his direction. It was Freya running for her life, Malaki running after her not far behind. Freya's terrified expression and frantic movements sent a surge of protective instinct through Thane. He positions himself between Freya and Malaki. His eyes locked on the fallen God, daring him to take another step closer. Freya hid behind the pack of wolves and watched on as Thane shifted back to his human form, facing down Malaki. Freya had never seen a shifter before and was suddenly hit with an intense need to be near Thane and protect him from Malaki. Thane stands tall, his eyes blazing with a fierce determination, his broad shoulders squared against Malaki's threat, while Freya's gaze clings to him, her instincts screaming to shield him from harm, drawing her closer to the mysterious stranger. Malaki notices her intense gaze on Thane, not liking what he's seeing, he shouts "Freya, get your ass back over her right now, or there will be consequences! I will not be humiliated by you a second longer!" Thane's jaw clenches, his fists tightening into knots as he takes a deliberate step forward, his presence radiating an unmistakable warning, "She's not going anywhere near you, Malaki!" he growls, his voice low and menacing. Malaki was stunned when Thane called him by his name. "How do you know my name? Do we know each other? Doesn't matter, Freya is my wife to be and will do whatever I want with my wife!" Thane's expression remains unyielding, "Freya is not your wife, Malaki, and she never will be." he states firmly, his voice laced with conviction, as if daring Malaki to contradict him. "Stay out of this shifter, you have nothing to do with my kind. I am a God, you stand no chance against me!" "Your God status means nothing to me, Malaki, and neither does your threat," Thane says calmly, his eyes locked on Malaki's, his voice steady and unwavering. Malaki glares daggers at both Thane and Freya. Freya, however, is still staring intently at Thane, not paying any attention whatsoever to Malaki. Malaki's glare deepens, his anger and frustration palpable as Freya continues to ignore him, her gaze fixed intently on Thane, her fascination with the shifter alpha evident in every line of her face. Infuriated, Malaki charged at Thane. Thane readied himself and blocked Malaki's attack, launching Malaki backwards. Thane stands firm, his chest heaving slightly as he eyes Malaki, who struggles to regain his footing. Freya still fixed intently on Thane, seemingly oblivious to the danger unfolding around her. One of the wolves brushes up against her, and she flinches away, bringing her back to reality. Her gaze snaps back to Malaki, her eyes widening slightly as she takes in the scene before her. Thane was standing tall, his eyes locked on Malaki, who was struggling to regain his footing. Freya yells, "Stop! Malaki it's over! The full moon is past its apex and the marriage ritual can't be completed anymore." Thane's eyes flicker towards Freya, his expression unreadable, as he continues to pin Malaki down with his gaze, waiting for the fallen God's next move. His body language is a testament to his unwavering readiness to defend himself and Freya. Freya pins Malaki with a stern gaze and says, "Even though the full moon is gone, these werewolf shifters are still more powerful than you right now. They replenished their strength and power with the full moon, and you are no match for all of them at once." Frey's words hand in the air, a stark reminder of Malaki's current vulnerability. As Thane watches the fallen God's reaction, his eyes narrowed into slits, waiting for Malaki to either concede defeat or attempt a desperate counterattack. Malaki, finally gaining his footing, says, "That may be so, but you are mine, Freya, and I will not let you go so easily. I will get my fellow Gods that are on my side to come hunt you down and kill your new shifter friends. You will marry me, Freya. Mark my words!" Thane's jaw clenches at Malaki's ominous warning, his eyes flashing with a fierce determination as he steps closer to Freya, positioning himself between her and the vengeful God. Freya stands tall, staring Malaki down saying, "You may have a few Gods on your side, Malaki, but don't forget that there are more Gods on my side willing to take you down a peg or two." Thane's gaze lingers on Malaki, his eyes assessing the fallen God's reaction to Freya's words, searching for any hint of doubt or weakness behind his arrogant facade. He finds it and smirks. He knew that Malaki wouldn't be attacking again. Thane's stance relaxes slightly, his grip on the situation easing as Malaki retreats, Freya still sheltered safely beside him, her defiance against Malaki palpable in the air. Malaki retreats in a puff of black smoke, leaving a stench of rotting meat in his wake. Thane finally relaxes completely and turns to fully look at Freya for the first time. He's absolutely stunned at how beautiful she is. Thane's wolf chants in his head, "Mate! Mate! Mate! Mate!" Thane stiffens and falls to his knees. He finally found his mate after looking for what felt like forever! He felt like the happiest man on the planet! Freya's gaze meets Thane's, her expression softening as she takes in the raw emotion written across his face. Her eyes fill with a deep warmth as she reaches out a hand to him, her voice barely above a whisper, "Thane?" She doesn't know how she knows his name, but it just comes to her. Thane looks at her with tears in his eyes. His name on her lips sounds like heaven. She giggles, and it sounds like the most beautiful music he's ever heard. Thane's eyes lock onto Freya's, his heart overflowing with emotion as he whispers, "Mine!" The word barely audible, yet filled with conviction as he reaches out to gently brush a strand of hair behind her ear, his touch sending shivers down his own spine. Freya leans her face into his touch, closing her eyes, embracing the feeling of warmth and the feeling of being safe with his touch. Thane's fingers trail along her jawline, his thumb grazing her cheekbone, as he leans in closer, his face inches from hers, his warm breath dancing across her skin, sending shivers down her spine, and whispering softly, "I've finally found you. My true mate!"
