The Alpha's hidden daughter

Chapter 4

* 10 year old Ashley P.O.V. *

It was Saturday afternoon and I was walking in the garden of the pack house, holding hands with a little red haired girl and smiled at her when she looked up. ‘’What that?’’ she asked and pointed to the forest. ‘’That’s the forest Regina.. Where we run and play when we are older’’ I said and she nodded understanding. This had been the third time this week I explained but that was okay, she was going through the question stage and I didn’t mind answering them. Every Saturday I babysit Regina, the daughter of Alpha George and Luna Isla. Regina had taken care of that mostly because she was not a easy girl to handle when she didn’t like you and she had liked me ever since she was born.

‘’Evan?’’ Regina asked and pointed towards a thirteen year old boy that was chatting with a few girls. ‘’Yes, that is Evan’’ I said and she suddenly started to pull my hand towards Evan. ‘’Evan!’’ she now said louder and we were heard by my nephew and his fan base. ‘’Oh ooh..’’ I whispered but walked with her towards Evan. ‘’Hey Ev..’’ I said and waved. ‘’Hey Ash! How are you?’’ Evan asked, friendly as always and when Regina walked to him and held her arms up he picked her up. The two girls smiled and were adored by the sight of Evan and Regina hugging. I smelled a certain smell coming from them and chuckled a bit.

‘’I believe they are thinking of you as their future mate’’ I mind linked Evan and he gave me a look and then looked back at Regina. ‘’Say pretty girl.. Are you going back with Ashley now?’’ he asked and Regina nodded. He gave her to me and I put her back on her feet. ‘’And what do you want to do?’’ I asked. ‘’Cookies!!’’ Regina said and I chuckled. ‘’Alright, then we are gonna bake cookies’’ I said.

‘’Ooohhh Cookies!’’ Evan said and then looked at the two girls. ‘’Sorry ladies, the cookies are calling me..’’ he said and as we started walking towards the kitchen, he followed us and suddenly put Regina on his neck. She laughed from the sudden height she had achieved and I looked at him. ‘’Did you receive my mind link?’’ I asked, a bit unsure. Mind linking was something you learned over the years and often it started with your parents and siblings, for me it was a different story and I was actually earlier with picking it up. Normally it started around the age of twelve but I started to pick it up now that I was ten. ‘’Yeah I did but they are totally not my type’’ Evan said and chuckled. ‘’Yeah they did kinda look like eh.. What did uncle say last about those women in that movie?’’ I asked. ‘’Bimbo’s’’ Evan said and we entered the pack house.

‘’I think I would rather kill myself than be mated to someone like that.. Or someone that is all macho and doesn’t think about the feelings of others’’ I said and Evan looked at me shocked. ‘’Really?’’ he asked and I nodded. ‘’I mean... I know I have still at least eight years before that time but I have been thinking about the whole mating thing and it seems kinda like a bother..’’ I said and he put Regina on a chair. ‘’That is some serious talk there’’ We suddenly heard from behind us, we turned around and saw our Luna. ‘’Mommy!’’ Regina said and got up on the chair. ‘’Hello sweetheart’’ she said and hugged her daughter. ‘’Be careful on that chair okay?’’ she said and Regina nodded. They were thick as thieves and I had to admit, sometimes to see that it stung. Not that I had something to complain, aunt Charlene and I were also thick as thieves but it was different than seeing a mother and a daughter.

‘’Well.. I just don’t want to live for ever with someone that I only like because of some bond..’’ I explained while grabbing the ingredients for the chocolate cookies. ‘’Regina, do you want white or milk chocolate?’’ I asked and looked at the red haired girl. ‘’White!’’ she said and clapped her hands. ‘’Alright Miss Regina’’ I said with a smile and she suddenly made a growl like sounds which made all of us laugh. ‘’I’m not Miss!’’ she said and folded her little arms. Luna Isla laughed too but then looked at me in a serious way. ‘’I do understand what you mean sweetheart but be careful with what you say.. Maybe somewhere out there or here in the pack is a very strong mate chosen but the moon goddess can always change her mind’’ she said and winked. I looked at her, not scared like other girls would be. ‘’I’m fine either way.. I don’t feel like I would even need a mate...’’ I said and Evan grabbed the bowl and I started to put in what was needed.

‘’Alright Regina.. Knead and get those little fingers extra dirty’’ I said and she started right away. If that girl liked one thing, it was getting dirty. Evan chuckled a bit and got the baking tray from the oven.

Luna Isla looked at me while Evan, Regina and I were making the cookies and smiled. ‘’I think your opinion will change but we will see’’ she said and then her phone rang. She picked it up and hummed a few times. ‘’Alright.. I’ll be there in ten..’’ She said and walked out of the kitchen. Before she completely left, she blew a kiss at Regina who caught it. ‘’See you at dinner sweety’’ she said and Regina nodded, already back at kneading the dough.

I rolled the dough out when it was done and gave Regina the cookie cutters, we have been doing this pretty much every week so she knew exactly how it worked. While she was cutting cookies, I put them on the tray and Evan checked the heat of the oven once more. ‘’Alright, the oven is warm enough’’ he said as I just put down the last cookie for that tray. Because he was older he felt obligated to put the tray in the oven, though when he wasn’t here I always did it myself I let him do it. I then took the last dough and started to roll it again so there could be made some more cookies. Evan sat down in between Regina and me and started to play with a little bit of dough that he quickly picked from the leftover.

‘’So.. Are you excited about the mind linking being so early with you?’’ Evan asked and I huffed. ‘’Yeah so excited.. No one can tell me why and I can only mind link with you, Dylan and your parents.. Every time I try it towards someone else, it doesn’t arrive’’ I said. Evan chuckled and nodded. ‘’I know, it is weird how we go through the whole process.. But it is also weird that you already can do it’’ Evan said and I gave him a side way look and started to grin. ‘’Just as weird as those girls hanging all over you?’’ I asked and suddenly the bit of dough flew into my face.

‘’Oh you!’’ I said and took some and threw it at Evan, which of course already was hiding behind a door. ‘’Coward’’ I said and first put Regina on the ground so she couldn’t fall and then grabbed some extra ammunition and sneaked towards the door. ‘’Oh Evan’’ I sang and quickly pulled the door away and threw some flower in this face. He sneezed and it got all over myself too. ‘’You.. are.. Dead’’ he said and then threw a full can of chocolate chips over me. ‘’Aahh!’’ I said and saw him run away, I followed him and left a trail of chocolate chips on the floor. I quickly grabbed the bag of flower and when he almost hit the wall because of his speed, I threw the content at him, making him all white. ‘’Ashley!’’ he yelled and ran towards me, he hugged me and suddenly broke several eggs in my hair. We laughed and I rubbed my hair against his face. He tried to get away but when he did that, we suddenly fell on the ground laughing and I saw Regina eating the chocolate that had fallen on the ground.

‘’Oh shit.. Gina.. Don’t eat those, they are dirty’’ I said and tried to get up but Evan was laying on top of me. We looked at each other and I felt myself get a little red and could see he was getting the same color. ‘’No no.. yum yum’’ Regina said and I laughed.

‘’What in heaven’s name is happening here?!’’ a familiar voice suddenly asked and Evan got up quickly so I could also get up. We looked right in the face of uncle Charlie and Dylan. ‘’Evan, you were supposed to be at your training half an hour ago’’ he said stern and looked at the mess we made. ‘’And what kind of bomb did go off here?’’ he then asked. Dylan chuckled and tried to contain his laughter while Evan and I each looked at each other. ‘’Well, we made this mess after putting the cookies in the oven.. And we went a little overboard’’ I explained and grinned a bit, trying to make it less serious. Evan held up his hand. ‘’I started it to be honest’’ he said and I poked his side. ‘’We started together..’’ I then said and looked at my uncle. He sighed and nodded towards Regina, who was still sitting on the floor eating chocolate. ‘’First bring her to her mother.. And then you two are gonna clean this mess up.. Spotless.. After that we will talk about your time being grounded’’ he said and turned around, he walked away with Dylan and Evan let out a sigh.

‘’Well.. That was fun’’ I said and then picked up Regina. ‘’Come girl, I am gonna bring you to your mommy and then I have some cleaning to do’’ I said and Regina nodded. ‘’Alrighty’’ She said and I looked at Evan. ‘’I’ll start up and when the cookies are done, I’ll take them out’’ he said and I nodded. I started walking and was getting quite some looks from the other pack members. Some even laughed at me but if I narrowed my eyes they would stop and act as if they didn’t do anything.

I was just about a few meter away from our Luna’s office when Regina patted me on my shoulder. ‘’You are like my mommy..’’ she said. ‘’What do you mean?’’ I asked surprised. ‘’If she looks at people, they also look away’’ she said and I chuckled. ‘’They just think Evan or Dylan will punch them if they laugh at me’’ I said and knocked on the door.

‘’Come in’’ Luna Isla said and when we walked in, I could see she had a hard time keeping a straight face and I was sure I must be looking really funny. ‘’So.. You made a mess of the kitchen?’’ she asked as I put Regina on the ground, lucky for me she wasn’t hit by the flour or anything. ‘’Yes, I did.’’ I said and looked at the ground a bit. Luna Isla chuckled and shook her head. ‘’Well, good luck cleaning the flour of the flour and cabinets then.. I hope Evan didn’t use a lot of water’’ she said and I nodded. ‘’I hope so too..’’ I said and then walked away.

The moment I realized why she said that, I started to run. Oh please.. oh please.. I thought to myself and took a short cut towards the kitchen. Coming there, I saw that Evan was just about to throw a large bucket of water over the floor. ‘’ Nooooo!’’ I yelled and tried to stop him yet of course he was already throwing and I got fully hit by the splash of water. I screamed because it was cold water and looked at my nephew. ‘’Evan!’’ I said and sighed, the flower on my face, in my hair and in my clothes started to suck up the water right away and got all crumbly and hard. ‘’Oh shoot’’ Evan said when he saw what happened. ‘’That much water will only make it worse’’ I explained and sighed. ‘’Sorry!’’ Evan said and I could see he felt bad. I sighed and shrugged it of. ‘’It’s alright’’ I said and grabbed a towel.

After that water incident, Evan and I started cleaning the whole kitchen. It was a lot of work and we were not finished when it was time for dinner, which made it only harder for us but also for the chefs to work. We decided to wait and take on the mess they made too so they could finish dinner in time, before a pack of hungry wolves would come after not only them but us too.

Eventually the kitchen was clean again, just before the clock was striking eleven in the evening. ‘’Well.. I am done’’ I said and yawned. ‘’Yeah me too.. I’ll never do this again..’’ Evan said as he put away the broom and walked towards the door. ‘’Let’s go home.. We can use a shower’’ I said and he nodded. ‘’That is so true’’. We walked home and looked at the sky. ‘’Almost full moon’’ He said and I nodded. ‘’The one night the pack hás to shift.. It is so weird to think that then only the children under eighteen are human’’ Evan said and I chuckled. ‘’You want to call Dylan a human?’’ I asked and he started to laugh. ‘’That is a question we will never get a answer on I guess’’ He said and we turned the corner.

‘’Lights are still on..’’ I said and normally aunt Charlene and uncle Charlie would be asleep already. As the gamma’s of this pack they didn’t have much obligations but they sure had enough to do especially because aunt Charlene was the midwife. We walked up the porch and opened the door. ‘’Ah, there you are’’ we heard uncle Charlie say and shortly after we heard him walk towards us.

It was weird to hear the stories of how silently he always used to walk, especially since I only knew him with his cane and the familiar tapping sound. ‘’Yeah.. We decided to let the chefs prepare dinner first and after they were done, we cleaned everything up.. Our mess and theirs’’ Evan explained and I nodded in agreement. ‘’I heard that yes..’’ uncle Charlie said and then looked at us. Aunt Charlene came also walking in, with a amused expression on her face and I instantly knew we were not that much in trouble. ‘’So.. How long are we grounded for?’’ I asked and looked at my uncle. ‘’A full day.. ‘’ he said and I could hear Evan sigh relieved. ‘’But.. That is to prepare breakfast for us.. Lunch ánd dinner’’ He said and then Evan his eyes widened. ‘’What ?! But but... Oh come on dad! I am no cook’’ he said and I chuckled. ‘’But you have to learn to cook for yourself.. How else do you want to survive before you find your mate?’’ Aunt Charlene said. ‘’I’ll ask you, you will always take care of me, I am your little boy’’ Evan said and smiled. Aunt Charlene rolled her eyes and laughed and so did I. He wasn’t much of a charmer but a charmer he could be if needed. We laughed it off with all of us and I then looked at uncle Charlie. ‘’So.. We only have to prepare the food for tomorrow?’’ I asked and he nodded. ‘’Yes, you do and I am expecting those famous waffles’’ he said with a grin and I chuckled. ‘’I’ll try’’ I said and then yawned.

‘’It’s time for bed.. It is almost midnight’’ Aunt Claire then said and we hugged each other. I then went to uncle Charlie and walked upstairs. There I walked to my room, to tired to brush my teeth I put on my pajamas and let myself fall on the bed. Grabbing for the blankets I rolled to my side and hugged my pillow. I drifted off in a dreamless sleep.
