Ruby's shift at the hospital was extended due to the accumulated number of patients in the hospital. She picked up her phone when she had the chanced and called Lisa, she had to inform her that she would not come home for the night "hey darling" Lisa said as she picked the call "hey girl, I'm not going to come home tonight my shift was extended" Ruby replied "is it because of the building collapse earlier, I heard they were all rushed to your hospital" Lisa asked " yeah, I'll see you tomorrow... there is a lot of things to do here, bye." Ruby replied, "okay make sure to eat something" Lisa instructed sternly " yes mother" Ruby mocked "you got that right" Lisa replied as she hanged up the phone. A sinister smile appeared on her lips as a thought crossed through her mind before she made a call to someone.

"I am so tired, and the night has not even gone far" Allison complained as she stepped into the nurse's room. "I know, but this is what we signed up for" Ruby replied stretching a pack of food towards her " here I ordered food". " You're the best" Allison squeaked happily as she took the pack from Ruby. " Burgers and fries, just what I needed" she continued. "It was the only thing available this late" Ruby replied taking a bite of the burger.

"I saw that man again today" Ruby started "he was in the Young's suite with the family members" she continued "what man" Allison asked curiously "the one that beat up the other guy that day, he was also the one that pushed me earlier" Ruby replied. " He's aura was dark and cold; how do people live with him" she continued looking at Allison. "I don't know" Allison replied shrugging her shoulders, "you shouldn't let him bother you focus on yourself now, it's not like you guys will cross paths again" Allison said taking a bite out of her burger. "Your right.... After Samuel, a man is the least of my worries right now" Ruby replied taking her mind off the man she seemed to bump into often.

"I have an idea let's get you another guy to take your mind off him" Allison suddenly said lifting her finger. "No no I'm not interested I need to focus and improve myself; the nursing assessment week is coming up in three weeks I need to focus" Ruby immediately declined. " I will not take no for an answer" Allison ignored Ruby and snatched her phone, "here this is the 'find him' app" she said flashing her phone screen at Ruby, "I'll set up your profile and....... There you go" Allison smiled handing the phone to Ruby. "I don't need this but thank you" Ruby replied without looking at the screen when the emergency bell rang, and they both left to attend to the patient who needed help.

Ruby got home the next morning tired and sleepy she searched for the house keys in the flowerpot and entered her apartment. The first thing she said saw was clothes scattered on the floor empty cans of drinks "what happened here, did Lisa have someone over" she said as she shoved the clothes aside and noticed a familiar pair of jeans, it was Samuels, "no it can't be, anyone could have this pair of jeans" she said shaking her head to wave the thought aside, 'Samuel could it be here, why would he' she thought as she called out to Lisa.

The shower was on 'maybe she's taking a bath' she said as she opened the room door to see someone, she had never expected to see Samuel.

Ruby stood still in shock, about to question him Lisa stepped out of the shower and hugged Samuel from the back "babe, are you sure you must go for the meeting" she said without noticing Ruby's presence "you could just tell them to shift it you're the boss after all" she continued still oblivious of the third person in the room. "I really enjoyed what we had last night" Lisa said snuggling even closer to Samuels back.

Tears began whirling in Ruby's eyes "Lisa what's going on" she asked slowly feeling her heart breaking into little pieces. Startled Lisa jumped in fear "Ruby......your home" she said stammering. "I said what is going on" Ruby screamed unable to control her emotions. "Why is Samuel here and what do you mean by what you had last night" Ruby asked with tears running down her cheeks. "Ruby hold on let me explain" Samuel said as he pulled up his pants, "I wasn't talking to you" Ruby snapped turning her face towards his direction. "Answer me!" Ruby screamed at Lisa

"Enough!!" Lisa finally spoke "you want to know the truth" Lisa continued with a look in her eyes that Ruby had never seen before. "Samuel and I are in love, and we are engaged to get married soon" Lisa said staring into Ruby's eyes. Shocked Ruby took a few steps back "what do you mean engaged? We just broke up two weeks ago" Ruby asked almost choking in tears as she looked towards Samuel. "She's right we are engaged, and we have been together for a while now" Samuel replied walking towards Lisa, he held her hands and looked at Ruby "I got tired of our relationship and Lisa was always there for me" he paused and kissed Lisa's palm causing her to smile.

Unable to take what she was witnessing Ruby ran towards the staircase, grabbed her phone and bag, and ran out of the apartment. With tears filling her eyes she just ran not able to see where she was going, she ran until she could not anymore, she found herself in front of a cemetery and she just sat on the sit nearby and cried like never before. So many thoughts ran through her head but all she could do was cry.

Hours later Ruby sat still on the sit staring at the already setting sun when a young man suddenly sat near her. "Hey, miss, are you okay?" The stranger asked pulling Ruby out of her trance. "I'm fine" she said wiping of the dried tears on her face "you don't look fine" he replied taking a seat beside her "whatever it is, you can't be here alone, it's not safe here" the man continued. "I'll be on my way" Ruby replied getting on her feet but she staggered but the man caught her in time. "Be careful" he said, helping her get on her feet. "Thanks" Ruby replied

taking a step back. "I'll get going now" Ruby turned and began to walk away "I didn't get your name" the man suddenly asked. "Ruby" she said without thinking and continued to walk away.

Not knowing what to do Ruby called Allison "hey Ruby" Allison's said as she picked up the phone. "I need a place to stay" Ruby replied sobbing quietly "are you okay" Allison asked noticing the sadness in her voice "where are you, I'll come get you" she said as she grabbed her keys and headed for her car. Ruby gave her the location and within fifteen minutes Allison arrived at the place. Are you okay? Why are you here still in your scrub" Allison asked worriedly.

Ruby hugged her tightly leaving all the questions unanswered. Quietly Allison led Ruby towards the car, and they drove off in silence. At Allison's apartment Ruby sat on the couch staring blankly into the television. "Tea?" Allison offered, "thanks" Ruby said with a half-smile. "How are you feeling now?" She asked, "I'm better" Ruby answered forming circles on the edge of the cup. "What happened, did someone die? Did your foster mum fall I ill? " Allison asked still confused.

"Samuel and Lisa are together" Ruby blurted as tears began to form in her eyes "what!" Allison exclaimed "what do you mean together". "Lisa is the reason Samuel didn't want me anymore" Ruby replied as hot tears rolled down her eyes gently "they were together even when we were together" she said wiping her tears with the sleeve of the sweatshirt Allison borrowed her. "Oh Ruby" Allison said hugging Ruby "she was my best friend" Ruby said with muffled tears "don't worry about her" Allison said trying to pacify her. Ruby cried herself to sleep that night.

Meanwhile at the Young estate tension rose in the dining area when Lucas Young announced that he had an announcement to make. Staring at Kevin he spoke "we are planning on expanding or business abroad as you all know" he paused glancing at everyone at the table "I have agreed to a marriage in order to secure the contract with the president of the country we are starting up in and you Kevin are going to fulfill that promise" he said firmly. "I'm not interested" Kevin replied getting up to leave. "Stop there" Lucas Young roared slamming his fist on the table, startling everyone.

"Screaming won't change my mind" Kevin said with his back facing the table. "You have no choice, because if you don't, I'll take away your shares and leave you with nothing" Lucas Young threatened. Slowly Kevin turned to his father "a married person cannot get twice now, can they?" he replied with an unreadable expression. "What do you mean married" Emily Young asked shocked with the new revelation. "You wouldn't get married without telling me" Lucas Young said as he stared into Kevin's eyes. "You think too highly of your importance in my life" Kevin replied calmly, "you wouldn't dare" Lucas Young roared slamming his feet on the table harder than before "I don't need your permission to do anything" Kevin said narrowing is eyes. "Well then I give you two weeks to present your so-called wife to me, and if you don't I take

everything away" Lucas Young said shoving his chair aside and stormed away. "You are many things but you're not a liar, it's funny seeing you change" Callus whispered in Kevin's ear has he walked away.

Kevin left the Young estate and drove straight to his penthouse. He picked up his phone and called Griffon "my house now" he commanded and hang up without waiting for a response. An hour later Gabe walked into Kevin's study, he looked at the man burying he's nose inside the book. "What was the outcome of the meeting with the lawyers" Kevin asked still looking at the papers. "It's going to be done in a month" Gabe replied taking a seat across him.

"One month is too long, I need it done in a week" Kevin said raise his head and threw a death glare. 'gulp' Gabe felt himself swallow "I paid people to get this one, in this country such legal matters take time" he replied scared of Kevin's reaction. "My father has set me to marry someone for a business contract, and I will never let him have his way with my life" Kevin said dropping the file on his table "we need to find me a wife before two weeks or else all my efforts will be for nothing" he added.

“How?" Gabe asked with shocked written all over his face. "Who can you convince to fall in love and get married to you in two weeks" he continued pondering on the situation at hand. "She doesn't need to love me, you will find a reasonable woman, that will sign a contract that I will draw up...... I am sure with money alot of things can be done" Kevin replied as he got up and left the room leaving Gabe in shock.

The next day came with raining pouring heavily. The sounds of the rain pattering on the window woke Ruby up. She held her head when she felt a sharp pain in head, getting up from the bed she realized she was not in her room, that was when memories from yesterday came to flashing back. "I won't cry, I won't cry" she repeated trying to suppress the emotions overwhelming her.

"Good morning" Allison greeted peeking through the door "can I come in" she asked. Ruby nodded scared that she may cry if she opens her mouth. "How are you feeling this morning" Allison asked placing her hand on Ruby's forehead, "you're burning up" she exclaimed. "I'll get you drugs" she said as she left. "Here, take this" she offered the tablet to Ruby. "Thanks" Ruby said in a whisper.

"Don't worry about anything I called the hospital and asked for leave on your behalf" Allison said taking a seat beside her. "You shouldn't have done that I can make it" Ruby assured trying to feign a smile. " No.... Look at you, you are running a fever, you cannot go anywhere like this" Allison refuted sternly. "You will rest and recover fully before you return to work" she said getting on her feet "I'll be back after the shift ends...... Jason will be around if you need anything" she added heading out.

Ruby got up and went into the bathroom, "what am I going to wear" she wondered finishing up in the bathroom "I can't wear Allison's clothes" she said thinking aloud. After much deliberation she finally headed for her house.

Taking a huge breath, she placed her hand on the knob and pushed the door open, but she bumped into someone, it was Samuel. Ruby stood still staring at the man who used to mean the world to her. "Hey how are you feeling" Samuel asked breaking the silence between them. Pushing the door wider Ruby ignored him and stepped inside, grabbing her by the hand "hold on" Samuel said with a solemn look. "Let go" Ruby commanded removing her hand from his.

"Why are you so mad?" Samuel asked raising his voice. "Is it because I left your sorry ass for someone better" he continued stepping closer to her "you were never enough for me, your too timid and easy to step on, I wanted someone better and Lisa was available" he said with a smirk on his face. Ruby looked at him dumbfounded, unable to speak, tears rolled down her cheek, immediately she wiped it off. "See you have even began to cry" he said with disgust.

"How and when did this start" Ruby finally spoke up, wiping her tears "when did I stop being enough, when did I become too timid for you.... After you met Lisa?" She added staring at the ground unable to look at his face. "You can't even look at me while talking", "what's going on here" Lisa interrupted "I'm just here to take my clothes" Ruby replied walking past her without saying her a glance. "I'm heading out" Samuel said taking him eyes off Ruby.

Lisa opened the door to Ruby's room and watched her pack her things quietly. "Aren't you going to question me" she asked crossing her arms on her bosom. "I don't have time for this right now" Ruby replied dragging her suitcase along leaving Lisa behind. "Look at you acting all miss perfect" Lisa said mockingly. Ruby stopped and slowly turned around "I just want to ask why... Why him, why Samuel, why me!!" She asked staring into Lisa's eyes "why my relationship, why did you betray me" she screamed in frustration.

"Don't raise your voice at me" Lisa barked "you thought you had it all, the perfect job, the perfect boyfriend, the perfect life" "f**k, you are an orphan and you don't live like one, you don't act like one, I helped you, it's only because of me that you have your job and me?" she paused staring back at Ruby "I have nothing...... You are living my dream, and I wanted it......so I took it" she added tilting her head to the side. "Especially Samuel, I liked him first before he saw you back in school, but no he chose he little miss perfect over me" she continued circling around Ruby. "You're lucky I don't like your job, or I would have come for it" she laughed as she stood in front of Ruby. "How could someone be so evil, you pretended to be my friend.... for years just so you could date my boyfriend" Ruby replied with shock written all over her face. "How pathetic" she snapped. "Think whatever you want, but I hope you took all your things because this house" Lisa replied gesturing at the house with her fingers. "It's all mine" Lisa said

with a smirk on her face. All Ruby wanted to do was slap it off her face, but she couldn't do it, "keep it, I don't want anything that has to do with you" Ruby replied as she turned around to leave. "Let me see how you survive now" she heard Lisa say as the latter laughed hysterically.

Ruby sat in the car and the only thing she could hear was Lisa's last words, she needed to find a way to show her that she can do better with or without her. "Hey mum how are you?" Ruby said as she picked up her phone that was ringing. "I'm good, darling" her foster mother replied. "I called to check on you and I need to speak with Lisa, I need her for the art class I'm enrolling.... she promised to help" she said. "Why didn't you just call her" Ruby asked gritting her teeth. "Well, I just thought to call you instead" "are you okay darling you sound stressed" she asked worriedly. "I'm fine mum, just call her, I got to go" Ruby replied hanging up the phone in fear that her mum will notice the pain her voice.

Ruby got to Allison's apartment, she couldn't stay here for long as she stared at the door, 'i have to find somewhere else to stay' she thought to herself laying down on the bed she drifted into a deep sleep.
