Chapter 7 The Word That Hit Home

766 Words
Aarav stared at the glowing phone screen as if it were a ghost. The blog’s opening paragraph… The sentence style… The emotional phrasing… It all felt like her. “Bro, why do you look like you just saw your math teacher and remembered you didn’t do homework?” Varun asked dramatically. Aarav didn’t blink. He kept reading. “…some friendships don’t fade. They leave imprints. On rainy days, on lonely nights… and sometimes, on the heart.” Varun leaned in. “Oh hoho… someone is writing very deep things. Any idea who?” Aarav swallowed. His voice was barely a whisper. “It’s Meera. I… I can feel it.” Varun smirked. “Great. You found her. Now find her phone number and propose.” Aarav glared. “It’s not that simple.” “It IS simple! You love girl → find girl → hug girl → cry → get married → I eat free biryani at wedding.” Aarav hit him with a file. But the truth was… he was terrified. What if the writer wasn’t Meera? What if he was chasing a memory? What if she had forgotten him? Moved on? Changed? He closed his eyes. What if she doesn’t remember our promise? --- ⭐ Across the city – Mia feels restless Mia closed her laptop after finishing her blog post. But something in her chest felt heavy. She walked to the balcony, letting the soft breeze brush her face. “Why am I thinking about him so much today?” she murmured. Kia walked in with ice cream, eating straight from the tub. “Your heart knows something you don’t.” Mia snorted. “My heart knows how to overthink. That’s all.” “No… seriously,” Kia said, suddenly thoughtful. “What if he’s back? What if he’s reading your blog right now?” Mia laughed. “Kia, don’t be silly.” But her heart… Skipped. Just a little. --- ⭐ Morning – First Day at New Company Aarav stepped into the building, straightening his shirt, his nervousness hidden behind a professional smile. Varun slapped his shoulder. “Behave yourself. Don’t flirt with everyone. Only flirt with HR if needed.” Aarav ignored him. He walked to the elevator. At the exact same moment… Mia entered from the other side of the lobby. They were about 20 feet apart. She adjusted her ID card. He fixed his tie. They both pressed the elevator button. Two elevators opened. They stepped into different ones. Again— Almost. But not yet. --- ⭐ Mia’s Cabin Mia unlocked her cabin and sat down, sipping coffee. She didn’t know that a new desk had been set up in the room next to hers. She didn’t know that Aarav’s nameplate was being arranged outside her area. She didn’t know that the person she had been writing about… The boy she waited for… Was now only one wall away. --- ⭐ Aarav’s Introduction Meeting “Team, this is Aarav. He’ll be leading the new app redesign project.” Polite claps. Mia was in another meeting at the same time, presenting her new story-based campaign. Their voices crossed in the hallway, but they didn’t hear each other. Fate was playing with them. Slowly tightening the distance. --- ⭐ Lunch Break – The First Clue Aarav walked into the cafeteria. His eyes caught something on the wall. A printed paper. It was a motivational poster created by the content team. The signature at the bottom read: – Mia M. M. He froze. M for… Meera? Varun noticed his face. “What happened?” Aarav whispered: “Who’s Mia?” Varun shrugged. “No idea. But she’s famous here. Writes for all campaigns. Very mysterious, apparently.” Aarav’s heart pounded. “M-Mysterious?” “Yup. No one knows much about her personal life.” Aarav swallowed. What if she is… No. Too early. Or maybe… too late? --- ⭐ Mia’s Phone Buzzes A new comment on her blog appeared: Username: LostBoy Message: “Some promises take time… but not forever.” Mia froze. Her hands trembled. Those words… Those exact words… Only one boy had ever said them to her in childhood. Her voice shook: “N… no way. It can’t be him.” Kia peeked. “What happened? Why do you look like you saw a ghost wearing your ex’s hoodie?” Mia whispered: “I think… Aarav might be reading my blog.” Her heartbeat thundered. Somewhere in the same building, Aarav leaned back in his chair, whispering: “I hope she replies.” --- End of Chapter 7 ---
